My main is a Troubador, and my old main is a Coercer. I think both classes are fun as hell to play.

What really ticks me off, is one of the perks of the troub (and your other 2 classes listed) was we used to be able to get really cheap masters.

With the new secondary crafting skills, cheap trouby masters are being transmuted. Bah!

You know, as I write this, I have seen the devs state that that they look at avrg dps firgues for all of class 'x' when they do balancing. Since in the past many troubs were heavily mastered, and now that will be less so, maybe they'll up our DPS????

huuuuuhhhh (/holding breath)

Message Edited by Krescendo on 12-06-2006 10:00 AM

> I think both classes are fun as hell to play.

Every class in EQ2 is fun to play. The real question is whether they are as fun to play as the other classes.

With the coercer, I can see some people liking it. If you like crowd control, or charming a pet, you might enjoy playing the coercer.

Comparing my troubadour to my swashbuckler, though, makes the troubadour look real bad. The only edge he has is a passive knowledge that I am providing good buffs. The swashbuckler has more combat arts to use, and they do more good. He is much more fun to actively play.

Oh well, people like you are the reason troubadours are still played. Keep it up!

Well I never mentioned that I've been playing since day 1 and my Troubador is only lvl 51 - quite a few "breaks" if you catch my drift. I don't think I've put in enough to time get annoyed in the same way most others do. I usually get bored because I feel spread too thin while others have gotten bored because they feel they have nothing left to spread themselves out over, if that makes sense.

Woot! Where is my prize?

Seriously, I do really enjoy my troub. Yes she is contiually nerfed and walked over, but she is mine and I worked hard to get her to 70. Its really a shame there are so few because they are so incredibly useful.

There'll be 1 less troub next month.

I see several (70 Troubs) every now and then on Venekor. I ask them how they like playing a PvP troub and they always say they love it and do great in groups (and don't mess around solo, much, lol).

What I can do, as a solo troub who has maxed runspeed, is get away from most people chasing me. My solo skills suck for two reasons, troubs aren't that strong solo and I haven't tried it enough to get good at it. I know I have seen posts here from troubs with KvD's in solo pvp higher than one.

In groups? They are always happy to have me, I can jerk the zone campers off the docks, with charm, I can run down and cast on the fly the runners, I can stun/stiffle and interupt. My groups don't run out of power fast, they stay alive longer and they do more damage.

In addition, I am usually around till the last of the fight, lol, cause they have to fight the tank, and wanna kill the dps/squishy/healers first. That said, my guild groups only lose to vastly superior numbers or much higher levels (unless we really screw up).

In all honesty though, I don't know if I'd still be playing a bard on a blue server if I hadn't found a good guild on a red server.

Message Edited by Krescendo on 12-08-2006 08:09 AM

Message Edited by Krescendo on 12-08-2006 08:14 AM

Something that always interested me about my dirge, but I haven't done it in a while, is look at populations of bards 1-35 verse 36-70 online at any time. It used to be, as a percentage of total population, there were a lot more low level bards (double and more), than high level bards. That should tell you something, at least for the servers I played on.

Unfortunately, since they 'fixed' anon., the "/who all bard 1 35" searches are kinda meaningless now.

coercers got us again... at least on the eq2census site. The eq2 one still shows us below them by a few.
Message Edited by ForgottenFoundling on 12-08-2006 02:16 PM

what makes a troub fun? the "utility":- high run speed- invis- evac- mezzthose utilities make it easy to travel through the world and handle with all kinds of mobs. while the troub's damage is rather low, he's able to solo pretty well.but:- every class is able to _run_ fast via totems. not as fast as a troub, but pretty fast. many classes are even able to run faster than a troub.- every class is able to invis with a totem.- some classes have built-in evac while others are able to get there hands on evac (root of escaping). while this root is just a one time use and won't get used for easy traveling, it adds the security factor of evac to all classes- mezz is mainly unique to troubs and chanters. some other classes get similar abilities (long time stun) and with higher guild levels there's rather costy mezz items for single use.so the troub utility is by no means unique. most abilities are obtainable by other classes. so, what has a troub to offer in addition? some mana regen and the "best" spell of them all: aggro reducing song.other than this particular song, the troub hasn't much to offer what other classes aren't able to do too. let it be built-in abilities or abilities obtainable via items. this leaves the troub as a hollow class. nearly all of the main abilities of a troub aren't unique to this class. play another class and you won't miss this abilities cause everyone can get them. but in difference to a troub, other classes add abilities to this pool. high damage, tanking abilities, healing power. why bother with a troub if another class offers everything a troub is able to do plus some powerful extras?

I have a lvl53 troubadore and I am thinking about leveling him up to 70 for raiding. If high end troubadores are so rare I stand a better chance at getting into a good raiding guild. He will probably end up being my first level 70 charactor because I don't see myself ever plaing my lvl57 warden seriously ever again. So you can count on atleast one more troubadore coming to the top tier.
