I laugh at all of them though because i know just how big of a [Removed for Content] we are at higher levels. Due to the well-known DPS-scaling problem we have a VERY hard time killing other people after the 50s maybe even in the low 50s. Hopefully this problem will be somewhat alleviated by the resist nerf (yes it is) that comes with EoF. Having your master nukes resisted completely 3 times out of 4, even when you've somehow managed to land the SPELL that debuffs mental resists by 2k... well it just sucks. Getting a little more damage will help alot.

Tactics for level 65+ PvP with mostly mastercrafted gear. (will work for 50+ just no jesters until 65):

Against healers: open with mez, then Jester's Cap followed by all our debuffs that dont cause damage (everything except Kians) Break mez with the stiffle bow shot and then add kians and move in to melee range and unload (laughs) if they're still alive when the stiffle wears off try charming (it stops them healing and its on a different timer to mez/stiffle) If charm doesnt land and they get a heal off... evac, you've lost. If charm DOES land, let it run its full length and interupt their next spell with bellow/cheap shot. By now their immunity to mez should be up, so hit em with it again (make sure kian's is off and you stop auto-attacking) again, if they resist and get a heal off, evac. you've lost. Once you've got em mezzed, start again.

Against tanks: Again, open with mez, debuff, jester's cap... and then KITE them. I've yet to lose to an even con bruiser, simply kite em until they're dead. If it's a Shadowknight, just evac, you've already lost. With the possible exception of those times when you reflect their HT it will do insane damage and basically end the fight. Guardians and berserkers again require kiting and a PILE of luck... they usually only use their bows for pulling, so quite a few of them have level 50 bows which dont cause alot of damage... those that DO have the better bows will just bow you down before you can kill them (resists on your spells, and they have insane HP... and you dont)

Against scouts: against dirges... unless they have much better gear than you just walk all over them, mez, debuff, kill. simple. Against another trouby again its down to gear and who lands the first mez/stiffle. Against an assasin... you better get the drop, because if you dont decapitate will most likely kill you out-right, if not it will certainly end the fight for you. Again, mez, debuff. then KITE and make sure Kian's sticks... if they get into stealth you're dead, so hit em as often as possible, use bellow, it breaks stealth (only thing its good for really... well the interupt is nice too) If you can keep them out of range it will help... ive killed assasins with MUCH better gear by keeping them out of stealth and kiting. Against a brigand... unless you get the drop you are dead, no contest, no evac, just dead. If you get the drop, its the same deal as with the assasin, except stealth doesnt really matter... what IS important is that if they get you into melee range you are dead, game over, do not pass go, do not collect 35 faction. I heard brigs are getting an in-combat teleport to PUT them in melee range... no confirmation yet though. Against a ranger... well ive only ever fought one, and he killed me with ease (sniper shot for the lose) However it makes sense that you would want to get into melee range and lay the smack down... even mages are better at melee than rangers (not far from the truth if you beleive all the whining on the ranger boards).

Against mages: It's a battle of resists and again who gets the drop. If you can mez and then debuff you're going nicely. If you manage to reflect their big hits you've won, a resist is almost as good. If your mez is resisted, try the stiffle shot... if that fails and your mez is resisted... you better hope you reflect, because otherwise you're dead. Against the necro... its alot harder. Mez the pet and try to kill the mage fast... If the necro gets you feared your next step should be evac, because you can bet they'll send their swarm pets, stack DoTs and run like little girls... but little girls who just scored 35 faction from your dead body. As a note, in group fights, charm the necros... you get a free pet.

General pointers:

1. Get a group. Don't leave town without a group. Ever.

2. Learn other classes by looking at their buffs under their names. Everyone has /anon or /role turned on, so you cant see what class they are. Also do this yourself.

3. If you have pets on you, hit your stealth, it clears their target. If that necro just sent his dumbfire pets at you, they're useless for the next 45(?) seconds while they hang around his feet. Also works for brigand thugs(!) and every other pet ive seen.

4. Always have your snare on your target. dropping their mental resists by 2k will increase your damage from pathetic to passable and maybe get you a kill. Also use Lore's... it stacks up over time and as a troub you will never win a straight DPS fight, you have to draw it out.

5. Get a group. Find a berserker or a guardian to hide behind. One idiot on the other side hitting a guard or zerker will keep their entire group locked onto your tank, proceed to wipe their group.

6. Use totems (owl and butterfly) always always always. as soon as you step out of town use those totems. (dont refresh if you're in an instance, but once you leave, hit the totems) Totems which give animal illusions are usefull if the animal is small... monkey totems for example. or rat totems until then.

7. Protect your healer. Do absolutely EVERYTHING you can to keep your healer alive. If someone is hitting your healer, mez them. If that breaks or is cured, CHARM them... just get them off the healer.

8. Get a group. Bards are awesome in group PvP, our buffs which dont look that great when just on you are HUGE when you are in a full group. Requiem of reflection on just one person is about a 10% chance to reflect... it hardly ever goes off. In a full group it procs like mad. I remember one group back in my late 50s... my group reflected Devastation back at the enemy group... unfortunately for the other group it was reflected by 3 different people, needless to say having 3 devastations landing on your group at once is very nasty and they lost.

9. Dont post at 1am, you will make many mistakes and give away many pointers... including ways to kill your class. And you cant spell at this time of the morning.

10. For anyone who's read this the whole way down i have just one thing to say to you... GET A HOBBY! (or find some BUBBLEWRAP!!)

By mez (to the chap who made the PvP guide) do you mean the charm, or we get something else later? Still only 32 at the mo

troubadours get a mez as their level 50 marquee spell. it gets upgraded at 70.lullaby and reverie, respectively.

Yes i meant Mez as in lullably/reveiry. Charm is useful in solo PvP as it pretty much acts like another mez... albeit an easy to resist one that can break every 4 seconds (seems like its more often, but thats what the spell says) But its on a different timer <shrugs>

I am only 34, but I have only had real success pvp in groups. I can see where we are a real difference (meaning huge benefit buff/debuff wise) in a group. Being able to sprint a goodly distance and having several cast on the fly debuffs and nukes makes us decent finishers for the runners.

Solo? Reading the guide above gave me some ideas, but honestly, I would think a troub would be nearly the worst choice for solo pvp.

Thats very true. It's quite possible that all the bruisers i've fought have just been crap bruisers. But i have never lost to an even con bruiser in a 1v1 fight. They are the only class that i can say with almost 100% certainty that i can beat every time (so far)

As for your fear/sonic fists... can you do that from range? can you do it while stifled? And how fast do you run with a 70% snare on you? With the number of debuffs i'd put on you... even if you did catch me you'd hit like a schoolgirl. The idea with most melee classes is that they cant kill you if they cant catch you. (anything with a bow and lots of HP is the obvious exception)

Also perhaps the Troubs you've fought just sucked... Troubador seems to be the Flavour of the Month class at the momment (hopefully will change with EOF) and we all know that the avg skill level of a class drops like a rock when there are alot of people playing it. Those of us who have played PvP with a troubador since the begining know HOW to kill things before... now we have the extra damage from lowered resists to make sure it happens more often. I've so far had about 12 solo fights, two fo which were against 2 others. All im saying is that charm makes a 2v1 almost a garuanteed kill for you... the other guy will most likely kill you after... but not always.

I'm pretty sure bruisers aren't affected by stun, stifle, fear. And I think they get a self root, snare, mez cure. They're the only class I have trouble beating in pvp as a necro (tank pet for stuns / root) and troub.

Question about our charm and pvp. If you charm the enemy and istead of say sending him on a fellow player you send him on a group of mobs, when charm breaks would the mobs come after you or stay on that group?

Alas, I am a broke pvp'r. I am in lvl 42 gear at lvl 60 <crosses fingers> ( I have 10 % till) and some lvl 30-40 pvp jewls. Well if i find you in a grp pease make me the charmed toon so that I kill something before I go down fighting. hehe

/flex

~Odio

<Sabotage>
