Hello there :smileyhappy:First, please note that everything there is not for raids but solo/group, i don't make any character especially for raiding (not a raiding guild, so i go where i'm invited). My main is a 70 coercer, and i have to say, it's the perfect character for me. I have lot of fun with her, but, i just can't play the same character all the day, or i will quickly run out of fun things to do. So for a while now i'm trying to grab as much knowledge as i can on each class, i already knew them quite well, but i want to have the "feeling" of each class, so that i can finally pick an official reroll that will go above lvl 20. :smileytongue:I quickly realized a few things. First, i will never, never stand to play a class that i can see every 5min almost everywhere (wizard, necro,...). I like more than everything to play a rare class and always make a great surprise to my groupmates who probably didn't know the real potential. Added to that, i'm too used to regen mana to play without it, i have almost no downtime with my coercer, and i tried many different characters... Too annoying. I just can't imagine playing a long terme character and having to watch for my mana every time so... The choice range is now reduced to classes with some form of regen mana.Needless to say, i'm now there, and troubador was the class that looked the best on paper. My little troub is now lvl 20, and i have a weird feeling. It's not bad, and i have some fun playing a scout class, but the more i look at the spell lists, the more i think "hey, i know why i like this: it's almost the same as my coercer", but no, it's not really the same. And here is my problem, i'm getting more and more under the impression that my coercer can do almost everything my troub do (and will do, i think) a lot better.Mana ? Coercer has by far more tools for that.Stealth ? I have invis with my coercer.Dps ? I'm a bit disappointed with that and i think that my coercer is better in this area too.Buffs ? Ok there, troub as a ton of buffs, but... with the limited conc, i wonder if it's all that useful.Charm ? I had a good laugh with that, the funny thing is that the icon is the same for both classes :smileytongue: But, a 8sec charm... not much to say about that, sigh.Crowd control ? Again, a different world there.I hope i missed something because, when i look at the spell lists, this is what i think. Troub looks like a gimped melee version of my coercer (it's not bad, it's even probably why i chose the troub, lol) with some stats buffs to make up for that. Now my alt is lvl 20, i wonder if it's really worth it to go higher. I can give her full mastercrafted for every tier, adept and master spells, so she will have good stuff anyway. It's fun for now but again, i always think "hmmm, if i had my coercer there... i could do that, and that, and that too..." and having to wait for the lvl 50 to have a single mezz looks very loooooooooong. So my questions (if you could standing reading that, lol, i know my english is not good, sorry for the long text :smileyindifferent:) are: what makes the troubador... well, a troubador ? What's the real feeling of the class (at higher levels, i mean), the little things that makes you proud of being a troubador, that your groupmates can enjoy really (and not thinking that another class would do better than you, but they don't have one so, let's take the troub) ? What makes the "uniqueness" (not sure of this word) of the class and, finally, why should i play a troubador instead of my coercer ? :smileytongue:I'm almost sure i missed something anyway, probably because i spent the time to write this, so i'm almost sure i will go higher than lvl 20, even if i'm not sure. I tested many classes and it's the best i've found so far, but i'm not really "inside" the character, i still have too many questions and worries to enjoy the class. Thanks in advance for the answers, i hope it will make me want to be a troubador, and not a "pale version" of my beloved coercer, i'm sure this class is better than what it looks :smileyhappy:

You'll be disapointed if you loke at a troub as an enchanter it's more of a rogue with a few enchanter like abilitys not a enchanter in armor, the biggest complaint about troubs right now is that they give up so much compared to other rogues and dont really get anything back but oh well i too have a coercer and a troub and i enjoy playing my troub but im always hoping for a buff to it, charm has diferent uses for a troub it works perfectly for what i want to use it for anyway.

Troubs are kind of lacking in a lot of domains, but you have the 34% run speed for all your group, and in places horses are not usable. Add to that the great hate reduction line, allowing poor tanks to manage the job as well as just making your tanks work less painfull. ( helped me a lot while leveling ) And finally the decent mana regen. these are for me the three points that defined my trouby in groups, now if you re comparing classes on the altar of balance you will find them to be a bit lame, but they are a fun class, and a game is for having fun ... hope that helps ^_^

The coercer may be better, if you just do the math. The thing about a bard, and I've played bards for 7 years now as my mains!! is the are really fun!! I love my Troubadors for more than any of my other toons! They are finesse, they demand creativity, and they are never overpowered. You cant mash the buttons on a troubador, and that is what I like. The PvP troubs, past lvl 30 know what I am talking about. When you fight, you can be highly successful, but you gotta sequence your attcks right!! You gotta pick your spots for ranged attacks, and your back stab! I love it! Funny thing to note I am thinking about a coercer, buz I think they would be really fun, and maybe own in PvP. Dankshasta Dreadnaught of Cleveland

Thanks for your answers :smileyhappy:I decided to try a bit further, and my troub is now lvl 29. I just bought my T4 stuff and i plan to go up to lvl 40 and maybe 50 to see how it works, the leveling is pretty fast, i can kill a solo blue in about 10sec and i have almost no downtime. My dps is now far better than in the last tier, the new spells helped a lot and i feel more as a scout class than before. I just wonder why the hell SOE decided to put the mezz at lvl 50 and not lvl 25 or something like that. That was very frustrating to see the bruiser in my group getting his mezz at lvl 25, i really really miss my mezz, lol.I'm pretty happy with the class for now (except when it comes to buy something... i already spent something like 10 plats for this character, with the same money i could outfit 4 or 5 bruisers :smileyindifferent: ), and it's fun to play, although i can't really know why. On paper, it's not that good, but when playing the character, it's more enjoyable than most of the classes i tried :smileyvery-happy:I've read many times that troubs are bad soloers... i hope it's only at higher levels, right now i solo very well, anything solo dies in a few seconds, heroics even 7 lvl below me are impossible in a normal way, but with kiting i can solo up to yellow con heroics so... I'm really looking forward to have more tools for that :smileytongue:
Message Edited by Celidya on 10-15-2006 10:16 PM

I would recommend a swashbuckler or brigand. I find the troubadour a little lacking in things to hold my interest. It's wanted in raids, but a little too close to a buff bot for my tastes. Swashie or brigand will be quite a change from your coercer.

People won't notice your group buffs, unless you remove them for a few fights, then turn them back on. Even then... People will notice group invise. As a swash you will have better crow control then the troub for the better part of the game, and the DPS isn't comparable.
