I was just starting to wonder, are troubs all that useful in raiding after all? Not that I'm high level yet but just can't help noticing that our tier 7 buffs aren't all that hot, are they? Just realized that troubs don't even get the rezzing song, knew I should've rolled a dirge, heh.Only somewhat useful thing I see is Bria's and aggro reducer really, almost everything else can be done better by others?I noticed some discussion about raids and noticed a troub in MT group on some occasions, could someone enlighten a noob why anyone would want a troub there? Also, was wondering, has anyone ever parsed a full group of high level wizards (that nuke as much as they can without getting aggro) versus a group of 5 wizards and a troub? What would be the difference I wonders...

But yeah, the proc song, brias, and deaggro make for a kick [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] caster group. Since wizards only get that uber 3% hate transfer (which doesn't stack so they all need separate targets), they are going to cream their pants when they hear they get put into the troub group.

Jesters cap (reduces reuse timer by 40%) is also pretty handy. Its usable across groups so brigands love it when you hit them with it--they can use their Dispatch that reduces mobs mitigation by 3k that much more often; ditto for certain healers on nasty pulls. Casters will also love your Precision of the Maestro (additional short term proc on hostile spells).

Both types of bards get the same AA lines. I won't speek for dirges but I'd guess raiding troubadors nearly all go with WIS and STR lines for the last ability benefits. Don't Kill the Messenger (7.5% increased chance to crit heal, nuke, melee) tends to make us popular on raids (again, see wiz/warlock love). Bladedance (group immunity to AoE for 30 seconds, 10 min reuse) can really help on raids -- esp on tricky pulls so the raid doesn't half wipe while getting an AEing mob settled in a delicate spot (or like Talendor spawning adds for each person hit by AE). Other AA lines increase your personal DPS but if you want higher damage... make an alt.

As for the main tank group, I think Dirges are preferred there but a Troubador is used if no dirges available. Troubs have STR and STA buff, dirges have STR/AGI iirc. Both get brias. Dirges get a DPS mod buff, troubs have a haste mod. In general the difference make dirges more useful to melee and troubs more useful to casters.

DKTM is big for dirges as well, generally, but not universally considered the 'must have' of the AA's. Big for healers in MT group and the DPSers as well. Arguments abound for the the other AA lines but many at least want 'bump'.

The sole reason dirges are MT grouped is their hate buff. The lvl 60 master version generates 41% more hate on a single targetA troub is a waste of space in the MT group. We're kings of the dps group, it's our 40% hate reduction that keeps the heavy hitters like Assassins and Wizards alive.

What about the defence buff, does it actually make any difference or is it just a filler to make our buff selection look bigger? At least I haven't noticed that it would've done anything so far.

Defense buff looks nice on paper, in effect it's almost fluff.

Well dont foget our Debuffs... they are very popular, as I see it we are a buff and Debuffing class in raids then the extra dps we deliver are just frosting on the cake.
like most ppl said troubs are loved by the caster. my guild wouldn't run a troub in MT grp cause our tank is capped on defense and sta so kinda pointless and brias is nice but pop a corcer in there and boom hate buff and managen and dps mod problem solved. yeah sure double managen is nice but honestly if ur tank is haveing that much touble with mana his gear is the suck. and thats also what shards and hearts are for. and jesters cap on MT owns all cause sure dps like it but if the tank has it taunts and reenforcement are up more so full burn is a go more often. but if u really want uber dps this isn't the class foo joo.
