ok guys

i hear a lot of different opinions on the charm and i know not everyone plays a pvp server but man ive grown to love it for pvp and thought i would share my experiances and situations in which it was usefull

funny the other night on my 25 (complely non-twinked troub ) i got into with a well equied 23 (monk i think) and he got me when i cam off the docs not realy paying attintion so i came bakc and lost by a small margin becuas ei made some careless mistakes so i rebuffed one last time and the case was on he had run into the graveyard and i came up on him and started from stealth this tiem and got him down pretty well b4 he turned on me and started ot hurt me fairly well so i ran back a little ways and got off my charm lol its only 8 seconds but that was all the time i needed to restealth and walk behind him and finish it

also ran into a situation where my group was being repeat ganked by a group of reds (to most of the group) that were just barely inside our lvl range AND they had an out of group lvl 70 healer (we were in the mid 20's low 30's range ) so after gettign wiped twice i finaly said screw it lets try somethign new and when the lead guy came at us again i let off with my charm and managed to stick it so on instinct i targeted there lvl 70 healer and made him attack him (yes we can do taht were the only class that can charm a player AND make them attack another player of the same faction ) needless to say the 70 seeing himself being attacked let off with his encouter aoe and one shotted the entire group that he had just been protecting lol at taht point i promptly hit my evac and we zoned right back in with imunity up and the 70 couldnt hit us lol

third and final situation 2 evenly matched groups fighting and the other groups ahd a realy tough tank and a good healer that wouldnt let us take out there paper casters or either of them ( good fighters ) so i charm there healer and sick him on the tank and with the 2 of them tied up fighting eachother for a few moments with no heals and no taunt offs we quickly wiped the rest of the group and taking out the the remaining tank and healer was cake

so just my experinaces and what not here and just my take and opninon so whats yours ?

i had a troubador on pvp for a time, and i once charmed a group's fury, who then proceeded to nuke her tank. needless to say, we won the fight and i got a good laugh out of it.

I love charming someone as they dash for the carpet in SS, then I sick them on mobs in the opposite direction, to get them as far away as possible from their escape. You just have to make sure their health is atleast in the yellow, or you wont get credit for killing them.

Level 70s can't even land spells on other level 70s, but a 20 can? I call b.s.

i think he means he just initiated combat with the 70

And resists are grossly overexagerated. Casters need some help, but it's fine L2P. PvP isn't supposed to be a 1v1 gankfest at 70 despite what an Assassin or Ranger may tell you. It's best done in groups where INT-slingers gain the benefit of debuffs and other group niceties.

And yes, my 70 Troub cant live without charm in PvP, it does flat out own.

Message Edited by Jait on 09-13-2006 01:32 PM

Jait, resists are only grossly exaggerated by nubs (like yourself) who don't know how to gear themselves properly fighting similar nubs.

When you have m1 spells, capped int, 480 subjugation and still can't land a spell except on a rare occaision against an opponent who has intelligently selected their gear (no, you don't even need raid gear to achieve this, just a clue) it has nothing to do with learning to play, unless there's a certain angle you mash the button at that magically makes your spells stick.

When I can fight a 70 wizard multiple times (read: not a random occurrence), my 80% cold/heat vs. her 80% mental and we both wind up oop before killing the other (but I win since I have power regen and an imbued wand, woot, casters are balanced) there's something amiss. If you don't believe me, feel free to ask Lisar, she's in your city, and is the wizard in question.

In any case, you're terrible, so I can't imagine why you think you have the right to tell anyone to l2p, puh-lease.

P.S. I seriously cannot (or don't want to, for the sake of my faith in humanity) imagine that an out of group healer would be fooled into attacking their own friend--I mean, they're watching their friend and have him targetted the whole time to heal him. How in the world could they possibly be confused into thinking it's an enemy?

Message Edited by Melmoth1820 on 09-27-2006 02:41 AM

Just curious how charm is supposed to be useful in pvp when you cant even command your pet to follow/attack lol - maybe im missing something here but basically its a really bad version of mez that breaks all the time and you cant debuff/attack them?

I charm the freep then quickly target another freep and autoattack -- that sends the charmed freep in to attack. Also, the charmed pet is set to attack anything attacking you, so if u charm a freep while being attacked by another, he will go right in.

-- Dreadnaught Chilmata Hari, 34 Troub

I dueled a troub the other day and he charmed me...he wasn't even able to put me 1/4 down .......needless to say that when I landed my debilitate/dispatch/double up....he was long dead in a 3 second delay......He was the same level as me.

I am a little fuzzy on the 'no charm' controls thing.

I have to manually bring up charm controlls (alt p) to them pve and it seems to work (provided charm works long enough to target something, lol). Are you talking about only in PvP or both?
