I posted this in another thread but it was buried far into thread. I think there are some nice tips here, so I'm gonna post it with a topic heading, as I think it will help alot more people this way.

Hello I have a level 34 troubadour Champion, with 1800 kills in PvP. I am almost always hunting solo. I have parsed him out a million ways, and I can safely say at my level I can fight any class, one on one, and WIN. Obviously I do lose one on one, but I win far far more, and it's usually only thru higher levels that I lose a one on one fight. This is fairly recent. I guess the things that make me tough are...
1) Remember you can use almost all your attacks while running, only Eli, and swindle essence lines require you to stay still.

2) Evade and slip, if you are playing your troub right you are gonna be moving, moving moving! Hit your de-aggro EVERYTIME IT COMES UP!

3) Cheap shot, use this everytime it comes up, always back up and hit your deafening whatever, the double arrow attack. It stifles!!

4) I have masters in every single spells, or master 2, this may not be possible for you, but it helps, as does the gear, and my 48 % horse, I will run from people only to make them sprint, when I Pam around, and see their power low, a lot times I turn around and hit the stifle arrow attack at range, and the cheap shot close up.

5) Remember to debuff with your coin spells as they make your enemy more susceptible to mental dmg, which hey guess what you do that!

6) At lvl 34, 17% of my damage is dissenting cantana, and 14% kian's anthem, eveything else is under 10, while melee is only about 4 or 5%!! So they are all important, remember to get the kians out early though cuz over the course of the hole spell it does 500-600 dmg at master two, if you get it off early, you might be able to cast it two, or three times. The trick is to give it time to work. Bonus for the Kian's line is if the run, after you got them in the red they will probably die.

7) Our snare isnt the greatest, unless you get a master. At master it slows 55 % and has alot less chance of being resisted, catch the runners with this, then when you are close, cheap shot, back stab, kian's, evade, in that order, cuz they are gonna start running again. Important to always keep that DOT on them!!

Quiron's I had a long solo fight the other day, and when I examined the data later I noticed Quiron's at Master, had healed me for 434 dmg, while my armour proced for another 250, add in a couple heal potions, and youve given yourself over 1000 points worth of healing in ONE FIGHT!!! You don't do a ton of dps so alot of fights take a while, your heals over time you buy yourself the ability to fight longer.

I have 5 more tricks, but I aint telling until I'm the first Qeynosian troub Dreadnaught on Nagafen. At that time I will probably give some more secrets, but these should at least even your record up!! LOL

               Dankshasta

                                                     -War-

P.S.

yesterday I killed 34 champion brigand one on one, and he hestitated in the onset so it wasnt really that close, then alittle later I killed a BRUISER CHAMPION 2 LVLS HIGHER THAN ME NAMED "TAEKWONDOE" It was a good fight, but the troub, walked away. It was a completely one, on one fair fight with no interference from anybody. Really was a beautiful fight measuring a full 84 seconds of action. So don't think we cant do it! We need to think alot more than the other scouts thats all!.

Message
Message Edited by DankShasta on 08-02-2006 03:35 AM

I'm a 52 Troubador Destroyer on Nagafen and use most of the things you mentioned here pretty well.

A few comments / questions:

5) Remember to debuff with your coin spells as they make your enemy more susceptible to mental dmg, which hey guess what you do that! I'm pretty sure it's the SNARE spell we use that lowers our target's mental resistance... in addition to slowing 'em. I use this as my 2nd attack right away to keep 'em from running away, or catching up with me as I kite 'em. The coin attacks you mention lower their defense... also important.

2) Evade and slip, if you are playing your troub right you are gonna be moving, moving moving! Hit your de-aggro EVERYTIME IT COMES UP! I've never used the Evade line during one on one PvP... I figured lowering my aggro wouldn't do anything one on one. The only reason I can imagine to use it would be if it takes you out of your opponents target window during the fight. Is this your experience with Evade? If so, it would be an important part of our arsenal... if not, what's the point (one on one)?

31 Destroyer on Vox for me, but I haven't focused on pvp aside from seeing somebody else out when I'm harvesting or on my way to harvesting. I plan on stopping at 34 to get some pvp in. Harvesting is a great way to go if your hard up for cash, it's also how I equipped myself with masters (troub masters are cheap to boot, so it didn't cost much), trying to get some feysteel together but it's dropped only once for me.Coin attacks are any HO starter. Cheap shot, mental debuff/snare, def debuff/power/health drain, evade. Our mental debuff/snare isn't the only one to use also, not every caster turns on auto-attack (causing them to auto-face you) and you can hit them with taffo's for another small magic debuff.Evade removes you from the target window in 1v1, it's also a skill I usually forget about too. Stealth does also albeit at a much longer cast time, but you can turn it off right away to keep running, or turn to use your stealth attack (stealth, stealth attack, cheap shot, taffo's, sybil's is my usual routine for opening).

alot of love here! speaking of noobs where do I start! First of all there is currently NO qeynos Dread troubador , Roadie is a freep. Second of all yeah the coin spells, there are 4. The evade (or slip),your snare, which debuffs, cheap shot , and the other one I cant remember the name but it debuffs. We have a couple real debuffs, but they use power over time ,or take a conc slot, so I don't mess with them alot when I'm solo. They are pretty decent when grouped, though. Also I sprint away on horse, BEFORE I ENGAGE IN COMBAT.Kinda hard to use the superior speed of the horse, after your in combat, huh? Lastly the slip, evade is a GREAT GREAT spell for you, that is often overlooked. Making your opponent reselect you, completely throws him off. Since he is probably casting a CA. He has to re target you, start to recast. Your right of course I am a noob,I probably am wrong on all my tactics. I'm up to about 1900 kills now,but mostly it was probably people sacrificing themselves to me. Especially since I am solo so much. That really brings out the sympathy, troub soloing. I love getting flamed even when I try to write a helpful post!Renews my faith in mankind really!
Message Edited by DankShasta on 08-02-2006 03:44 AM

Nice post, some good info. I think Troubs are at their pvp prime from 24-34, after that the reality of resist kicks in. I'm at 65 and its pretty rough and can't solo hardly anyone but I do try a lot cause I can escape from most.
Message Edited by smtjoy on 08-02-2006 09:45 AM

I'm seeing now that Kian's is a dot... I have bad luck with things that break on damage (with all of my characters), which I assume each tick of the dot has a chance to break it; does it work out best in the long run?As for resists kicking in, I'm sure the latest nerf to crafted equipment dealt a good blow to those that are now leveling in the resist department, or at least those that can't afford rare. Until you start seeing equipment farmed from nameds at higher tiers (I'm assuming high level people use dropped or quested).

Thats all good sub 50 but post 50 the bard gets alot worse in pvp. Now I would have to say that the best pvp troub on nafagen post 50 would have to be pandoris. I just do not want people thinking troubadors are good pvpers endgame because we are decent but is nowhere as easy as sub 50. There is a reason there is only no qeynos dreadnaught and only one fp deadnaught on the nafagen server. Frankly we just arent good 1v1 pvp at higher levels. BTW pandoris is going to beat you by a long shot to dreadnaught. PVP is always easy when you turn off xp at a low level and fully master and equip yourself.

Message Edited by SeregWethrin on 08-03-2006 05:24 AM

Message Edited by SeregWethrin on 08-03-2006 05:28 AM

Pandoris probably will beat me, I did pull ahead of her quite a bit on kills now, but Hobs came out of Exile so we are a couple 100 behind him. Having played bards to end game for almost 7 years now, I feel pretty confident, in my bard. I played so much much end game on Toxxulia, and Guk, that's not why I am here on Nagafen. I came here to PvP, and you gotta admit the best action is at t4. Also I'm a champion, I only get fame from destroyer and up. All destroyers and up are twinked, pretty much. Can you really argue that? So your stated advantage is somewhat negated by this fact. I bet I'm the most hated Troubador on Naggy! That's gotta mean, I'm doing something in PvP!!LOL!

                                                                      Dankshasta Champion of War

"PVP is always easy when you turn off xp at a low level and fully master and equip yourself."In the PvP games I've played, this has been the obvious thing to do. When you play to pvp (competitively) in an MMORPG, doing what you have to do to keep yourself well equipped should be second nature. Turning off xp as you level at some points; using a higher level alt to farm; grouping with other players consistently; rerolling to a more competitive class. Then try to find a challenge by seeing how much you have to use, not by making things hard on yourself by being unprepared for harder encounters. When things get too easy, you level and re-equp yourself.

I have 34 Troub on Venekor, and its my favorite solo pvp toon so far. I'm going to give you guys the best tip ever, even though I'm letting out a big secret. Right now I have 1295 kills and 86 deaths and have only lost 4 solo fights, all to yellow cons: one necro, one bruiser, and two brigands .. . . .

I created two macros: first with debuffs and cheap shot and slip/evade . . . . the second with the 3 quick CAs u can hit on the run. I then put the macros in my primary hotbar and play with my left hand over the keys and spam them while fighting. When timers are down, I kite and hit the 3 second interrupt CA (the AoE) and when it lands I fly back in and start spamming the macros again.

For those who don't know how to create the macro, just type in : ; useability sybil's slowing chant ; useability cheap shot ; etc etc

(and I put spaces between the colon and semi-colon and the words (don't know if makes a diff or not)

Also, my first four keys in my primary hotbar are 1) ranged auto-fire 2) debuff macro 3) attack macro 4) stifle shot 5) the DoT 6) interrupt AoE

With my left hand I can hit all of them with my four fingers, my pinkie on tab-target and my thumb on spacebar for jump, I jump around spamming macros, hopefully my Alin's is procing, and I usually walk away the winner. Hope this helps

--Champion Chilmata Hari, the sexiest troub on Venekor and freepkiller extraordinaire
