I thought about betrayal to change classes, but that would have meant becoming a Dirge, essentially a gimped Bruiser/SK wannabe that wears chain.

Godzmodiar wrote:insane dps? dirges are usually always lower than the troubs on any parce ive seen at our raids

That could be because dirges are generally put in a tank group and Troubs in a DPS group.

To be honest reguardless of what group the two classes are in, MOST of dirges spells inately do more damage, or have more spells with an option of doing damage. While troubadors are always in DPS groups, with things like procs and the like - the dirges innately CAN do more damage. If you take a dirge with the same spell quality (I.E lets say all Master 1) and a troubador of the EQUAL skill, and have the same gear, and are AA speced the same way, and is not an AE fight (I know lol) for the most part a dirge will always outdps a troubador. While what I just stated above is highly unlikely, almost impossible, just due to the mechanics of the game a dirge will out dps a troub for the most part.

I HAVE played a dirge to 70 and "insane" is seldom a term used to describe my dps. A couple of months ago, in raids, while in the the MT group I would pop into the top 10 dps maybe 1/2 to 1/5 the time.

Tombs is pretty much a melee dps raid group only song (or for when there are two bards in a group and rarely then, unless both are dirges).

Since the scout nerfs, I am lucky to make it once a raid. Granted, you could fudge a little on your job, dkp weapons that should probably go to a true dps class and make the lower end of that list fairly reliably, but it is still the lower end.

When you get higher, and start going all out (especially in raids) welcome to the would of blue icons (insufficient power).

Play what floats your boat, but basically to my point of view, they are pretty close to balanced with regards to each other (troubs and dirges), its just they are quite a bit different, even though both are still support classes.

I have not had very good dirges in the past in my guild, so saying that I always out dps them doesn't mean [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn].

I think both classes are very, or for the most part, balanced towards each other, they both have their nich in group/raid. While its normaly better to have a dirge in a MT group and troub in dps group. but a third bard really can go pretty much anywhere and help the group quite well reguardless of troub or dirge.

I don't see bards in there at all, anymore, but I do see some of the people I am buffing, so in my own mind, such as it is, I take credit.

Message Edited by Krescendo on 06-27-2006 02:17 PM

This is too funny I play a level 70 Dirge and the only insane DPS I do is if I drop off a cloud and hit an island in KoS.

Dirge DPS leaves alot to be desired. To call it dps is giving us more credit than is due. Infact it's not uncommon

for druids to out dps me exp groups. This comes from a retired ranger that used to parse 1500 consistantly in raids.

My 66 dirge and 70 troub practically parsed the same. Troub was slightly higher..

No enough to betray, because I don't see dirges as a lot better. Enough that I am playing my alts a lot, though. If I am not careful, an alt is going to become my main.
