View Full Version : Question for pvp Troubs....

I play on a pvp server and have recently started using charm on opponents. At first this seemed like a great spell. I could charm people, send them at heroic mobs and then when charm breaks I would be able to finish them off. God knows there isnt much else I can do vs a good pvp opponent. The problem is that as soon as the charm breaks, the mob that I had them attack instantly comes for me. If the mob kills the charmed person or gets them too low in health, I dont get credit for the kill. So as far as I can tell, the only reason this spell is useful is to charm someone and send them away as I take off running the other way. Its a little frustrating that im already really weak in pvp and now I have another spell that had potential not work.So any other pvp troubs have any experience with charm? Perhaps there is some better way for me to use it besides the way I am trying.
Dang. After seeing your homepage I wish I could transfer my 70 Troub from Venekor. Grats on Gore already.

As for your question, it's like any charmed pet. So even if it's a PC you're the one who draws aggro. Since the changes I mainly use charm on the teams healer, and hope for 14 seconds of no one getting healed, it's also useful on the Tank (to send into the healer) You can also try sending one of the above to a max range target, almost turning it into a Fear type spell.

I too would like to hear more, good topic.

I use it on their DPS and sick it on their healer. I'd only charm their healer if I was in vent, else I'd cause too much confusion.

The best use I have found for the charm is to charm someone who is near a portal/cloud/cliff and send them to attack a mob inland. This way they cant just instantly get away when attacked. Jester HavocNagafen

Lvl 60 troub on naga and have never used charm in pvp. I mez, debuff then assist mt for the most part in pvp. Solo pvp I am weak at best, our class just does not do well imo. I have tried a lot of different things but with little luck.

I will take your advice and message them so they know how weak we are in pvp.

In 1v1 charm is useful for an ability refresh just like mez so you can wait for your big spells to come back as well as stun. In group pvp I love to charm a DPS class or mt and sick it on healer. MT class can be nice if it is the only one that way he cant taunt your dps off their healer/casters for those few seconds. This allows you to have your mt taunt their scouts while the rest of your group is free to unleash on their mages and healers without fear of being taunted off right away. This obviously works better when in vent though.
