I noticed that Bria's Entrancing Sonnet (20th level charm) on Test lasts only 6.5 seconds now, not 8.0 seconds. After doing a little research here, I'm convinced that they're turning our charm into a Troubador version of the Dirge spell that stuns a monster for 8 seconds and then does damage to it when it expires. Dirges aren't too happy either about the change to their spell because of the increased reuse timer (30 seconds) and severely decreased damage to those songs (cut in half roughly).Oh and our ranged stifle has verbiage about having its stifle effect cause Epic immunity after it expires and its duration reduced against Epic targets, but it itself still doesn't affect Epic targets. Aside from probably being an obvious oversight, [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] is that all about?Congratulations on 70, too!
Message Edited by Jooneau on 05-20-2006 01:37 AM

They dont understand do they?

Removed powercost? Nice, we have a 8s stun every minute and some. Not useless, but its still very near useless compared to the previous versions. Its a long recast slightly longer cheap shot. No longer used for taking out adds, but for backstabbing and stealth attacking.

Can someone on test check if you can still use them on Tripple ups? The T5 version of the charm could be used, the T7 version couldnt. Big diffrence that and would want to know if this is fixed now.

Not good enough.

The power cost was still listed in the description, at least on the level 20 one I used on Test (45 power). You can't use it for backstabbing and stealth attacking, because the NPC is considered your ally while charmed. Cheap Shot is more useful than Bria's for that. They removed the verbiage about our ranged stifle working at all on Epics so it was never intended to work on Epics. The spell in its current form on Test is such a huge letdown from what charm used to be that I have absolutely no desire to continue playing EQ2, let alone EQ2 as a troubador, whatsoever. Trust me; if you enjoyed using charm at all as a Troubador, once you have seen this change for yourself, you will be devastated and not have any illusions at all about this spell being useful. Any game where the designers feel empowered to make this sort of overwhelmingly negative change to a class-defining ability is just not worth playing, let alone paying to play.

Reverie Master I - Previous power cost: 192 - Current power cost: 128 (Decreased by ~64) - Previous duration: 20 seconds - Current duration: 24 seconds (Yay) Bria's Infatuating Sonnet Master I - You can now command your pet to attack other mobs. - Periodic resists no longer exists. - Previous power cost : 126 - Current power cost: 126 (NO CHANGE) The charm still sucks, and the mez is still very limited in its uses, but a little bit more solo friendly though. And they didn't lower the power cost for charm like the patch notes said it would... EDIT:
- Troubador: Bria's Entrancing Sonnet: Removed damage, periodic break chances, and power cost.

And I'm sorry, but [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] is the removed damage portion? You know your class got the crappy end of the stick for nerfage, when the scouts are complaining about "cheap shot" LOL and that nerf is so miniscule that it is not even on the complain radar for our destroyed class. If all we got for Christmas was a cheap shot nerf........I'd kiss Sony's butt for the next 2 years.Troubadors have a bit more severe issues here DEVS, then the cheap shot ones....so what do you want to fix first.Moose

I could Cheap Shot, Bump, Ciara's, and Dancing Blade before the stun wore off...

It's not as good as a stun, or even a mez. I could care less if Troubadors and Dirges have some sort of Yin/Yang balance of their spells. The devs must think of it as some sort of elegant balance - but I don't understand why Dirges and Troubs must be more like one another, outside of some worthless sense of symmetry.

I think that "Removed Damage" means that the charm won't break if the pet takes damage.

Just checked it. No more periodic resist and no more breaking when the pet takes damage. Still.. WOOPTY DOOOOOO! 8 seconds? =/

In 8 seconds will a mob even get off ONE hit in a fight? I would say maybe about half the time it would. No more.

I'm totally against the charm nerf and it has made me shelf my 69.6 troub on nagafen but if they want to make it have any use at all they should put a memwipe on it on termination. Some people may actually like that. Also nix the recast timer but instead put a cannot recast on said mob for 1 min buff like jesters cap.

Ohh and to compensate the huge dps loss in pvp due to the charm nerf and make it castable on players.

That might make me reconsider whether its worth playing a troub on the pvp server.

Message Edited by Noguks on 05-23-2006 09:49 AM

Message Edited by Noguks on 05-23-2006 09:50 AM

Charm is crap, but its going in the right direction. The only problem with it now is the 8 sec garbage. Make it 5 min or it wont be used. End of store

I used to regularly use charm to allow me to mine a node guarded by a single heroic mob. That was about the limit of it's usefulness to me, and even that's gone now...
