<DIV>So I bought splitpaw and ventured into it with my lvl 26 bard. My bard has a few masters, for his level, but not all masters and some spells are still app1. The economy on my server (vox) is kinda [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn]ed up and lots of stuff on the broker is going for a few plat or so when it shouldnt, or a buncha gold when it shouldnt. so its hard to get good spells. I have a mix of t1 and t2 gear as well. I mostly focus on intellegence and agi. (for the dmg to our songs and for avoidance).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Anyway, my problem is that ive gone into splitpaw and I get totally creamed. I cant solo the first pit arena guy without taking 10 mins kiting him around. And even then its hard to do because if he gets to me im mincemeat. ONE time i did kill him and got to the next lvl one but died because the guy is yellow and heroic.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I also try to do the destroy the supplies thing, and i fail everytime. The only time i get relatively close to doing it is if i take alot of time and charm mobs. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>OH and the most pathetic thing... I did the harclave quest where they buff you with like a  million hp/mana, and i STILL died. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>i dont have the game installed right now cuz i am having computer problems (waiting for it to get done downloading) but the masters i have are the snare spell, the debuff spell, the anti aggro spell (which doesnt help me much at all) charm spell and maybe something else but not sure. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If anyone could please give me some advice on how to complete these quests and make splitpaw worth my while. I would very appreciative. Do you think its in my gear? my lack of masters? Problem with technique? am i missing something about these? am i just not meant to solo these??? </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I mean i seriously get [Removed for Content] doing it.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks in advance!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

Alright, here's the most important thing - Your gear. At your level, the splitpaw instances are geared towards the upper end of Tier 3 stuff. What you'll want to do is hit the broker and look for cheap armor in the rance of levels 20 - 26. Playermade carbonite chain is uually cheap as all get-out, and there's very likely better armor just as cheap. Steel Brigandine is pretty good stuff, though it can be a little pricey depending on your bank size - an average of 2 gold for each piece except BP's and legs which run for 4 gold - At least on Befallen, which also has a pretty wonky economy.Go to Eldarr grove (or South Freeport depending on where yer from) and buy at least app. 2 spells. I would strongly recommend shelling out the money for adept-level haste, charm, and at least one non-positional combat art.If you have trouble funding all this stuff, I have one word - harvest. I've made a killing selling collectable items, and T2 tradeskill items, tubers and iron clusters especially, make a tidy profit. Grab everything except fungus / gardens, put it on the broker, and you'll wind up with gold, I promise. In the Upper Tunnels zone, you can find collectables in the lower levels of the zone - You have to kill things to get to them, but these things (splitpaw coins, gnoll tails and ears) sell for a fairly hefty price on the brokers. Another suggestion is to use a shield and one-hander when soloing. It's a little slower, but you die a lot less often, so it works out. Also if you haven't found out already, cheap shot is great - Knock the mob on its head, run around behind it, and slap it with Taffo's and a few other unparryable hits.As for specific strategies... For the Arena, scouts get kind of doinked, since there's almost no elbow room in there for kiting, forcing you to go toe-to-toe with the mobs. You'll be facing off several rounds of mobs. The toughest is probably Phosm Stonebend, a yellow mob who apparently has strength 300, to judge by hte way he hits. After him you have to deal with a duo, then a trio of spellcasters - use charm for these and let them kill each other. Oh, and I can't say it enough - Cheap shot them all you can. For Harclave's, the trick is to take your time. You're buffed all-out, so first impulse is to take on everything you can - don't. Even with the buff and master-level heal song, I get creamed if a second group adds in Harclave's. Pull groups away from each other, clearing htem one at a time. Use Charm on Rosch and Nisch mals - these are the casters, Mages and Priests, respectively. They don't last long as pets, but at least they're not nuking you or healing their buddies. For the third one, again you want to take your time. Clear mobs out before you detonate supplies - Unless you're feeling silly, in which case you can use the barrels to blow them up, too <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Things here tend to come in pairs, so again, utilize your charm. Try to keep aggro on yourself, though, since charm breaks so darn easy. It's probably the easiest of the three to do, it just takes time.Primarily, you want to bring your gear up to snuff, and take your time. <div></div>

Don't worry about agility. Just go int, str, sta in that order. <div></div>

Just a quick question guys about Splitpaw. Do you start this by getting captured by the abductors in Thundering Steps?<div></div>

The arena is doable, if you fight smart, not hard. It has been awhile, but let me see if i can help you out. <u><b>Step One: Prep </b></u><b>Armor: </b>Head to Ian Whatshisface in Qeynos Harbor (if you are a good guy) and do the Armor Quests, they are free and last until                     mid-lake 30s. For jewelry and accessories, grab INT stuff if you can find any, if not, get STR for your Melee CA. <b>Weapons: </b>Grab a sword/dagger combo. Try to get one of the rare crafted ones, the proc will boost your DPS by alot. If you can't                        afford the rare stuff, grab something with good dmg and decent stats. Shields are good, but our goal is to kill him                             before he kills you. 2 Proc'ing weapons out-equips a sword/shield. <u><b>Step Two: Battle</b></u> Talk to the guy to send in the mobs and go into stealth, none of the mobs see thru it. Get behind the mob and use your stealth attack. Then fire all your debuffs at it, the -Defense, -STR -STA, and a DoT if you have one, and just spam everything you have. When you get Cheap Shot, USE IT! you can get in 2 flanking attacks if you time it right. Remember, you have to kill them before he kills you. If i remember, the group mobs have some down arrows meaning you can fight them both without having to mez/charm. If you have good armor and better songs, you can easily kill both (or all 3) at once. <u><b> Sub-Step Two: Concert Program </b></u>You will really wanna use these songs, get them AT LEAST Adept 1. 1. Quirons: In combat regen, do i really need to explain this one? 2. Bria's: Same as above only it's power. 3. ____Avoidance: Ya' know, the +Defense one, you will need all the avoidance you can get. 4. People always say haste is useless...i disagree, you can use haste when you CAs are refreshing for a little more oompf in your         DPS. 5. Resist, most mobs use elemental spells/debuffs, these songs will help you take less dmg, and help you resist the debuff                 altogether 6. You can use any combo you want, but i would stay with the 2 regens at least. The +Avoidance too... Side Note, i'm a 60Troubador. I was 26 a LONG time ago, like 10+LU ago so crap has changed since then. I don't know the names of most of those songs from that level, most have been renamed and stuff, but i think you can gather what i mean by the descriptions. It's 3:30AM here so if i forgot something......well, i'm too tired to care. The above stuff should work. Remember what the boy scouts preach: "Always be prepared!" <div></div>

I initially had the same problems you did, but I've slowly mastered the Arena and Harclave in my 20's and 30's. My Inn room has over 50 Flamming boar heads in it, if it gives you any indication of how often I run the arena =) For the arena, the only 3 fights that will give you trouble are Phosm (make sure you debuff his STR and use gnoll master strike), the threesome (charm the erudite cleric), and the Pit Champion (land all your debuffs and use Gnoll master strike). It takes some time, but you will get the hang of it. The harder one is Harclave. This is brutally hard at these levels, especially the final fight. Here is what I do: <ul> <li>Light all the torches while stealthed, and get the buff.</li> <li>Use planks to get the group of mushrooms, take them all out (use your group STR debuff).</li> <li>Target the mushroom king in the next room and see if anything would aggro if I pulled (be stealthed). If so, pull the aggro mobs first, if not, get to the max pull distance, use the nuke song and back away as it's casting. It will still land and it will be a solo pull every time.</li> <li>After killing the mushroom king (use arena tactics), head down to the final Rosch gnoll guy while stealthed.</li> <li>Climb up to his throne area, and use charm on the main boss (the double up arrow). I had really weak equipment so the only way I could win was to charm the hard guy, take out the two, weaker, mobs and then re-charm the boss and regen my health back up. It's really easy to beat him if you are 100% and it's just you and him. Remember that you can use charm as a cheap mez to regain your health and CA timers. Both Skeleton Mastery Strike and Gnoll Mastery Strike will work on him. </li> </ul> <div></div>
