View Full Version : Solobility versus Survivability

<div>We've had an ongoing discussion on the solobility of troubs and how good they are versus other classes.  When we speak of solobility, most people think of how well they do against a mob of a given level and how many arrows they have over their name.  In this regard, we are far from overpowered.  We can mow through easier stuff (greens and blues) at an almost non-stop pace.  We fly.  As the mobs get tougher, we can take down hard stuff with the proper tactics, but it's usually not worth the time and effort.  IMO, we are average at soloing when only considering what we can take down. </div><div> </div><div>However, if one considers survivablity as part of the solobility equation, then I think we're near the top along with furies and pet classes.  Before I became a dedicated raider, I took pride in my kills versus death ratio.  I soloed a lot and rarely died.  I could also explore places and solo quests that would be a challenge or impossibility for other classes.  I don't think any other class has better overall tools than us for moving around and then getting out of a sticky situation:  invis, mez, charm, selo's (and harbinger's sonnet), and evac.</div><div> </div><div>We may only be average at pure soloing, but when it comes to survivability and independence, we are at or near the top of the classes.</div>

Feign Death is handy for survivability too, better than stealth in areas heavily infested with Scout-class monsters.Still, mez and charm are quite excellent tools in a Troubador's survivability arsenal. Escape too, especially since we can cast charm and escape on the run.Let's not forget that Selo's doesn't go away in water like carpets and horses, requiring a recast.<p>Message Edited by Jooneau on <span class="date_text">04-05-2006</span><span class="time_text">03:30 PM</span></p>

I have no idea if there was ever an announcement about this change, I think they just slipped it in. Same goes for carpets.
