View Full Version : Need some tips on defeating the pit champion (lvl 20)
So I ignored all of the Splitpaw naysayers and plunked down the $7 to see what all the fuss was about. I then proceeded to spend the next 4 hours trying to beat the Arena pit champion over and over again.I can defeat the first 8 battles easy enough. But that big gnoll keeps cleaning my clock. Here is what I've tried so far:

Opening with Gnoll masters strike, then running away and kiting with snare and our two nuke songs. Problem is he can still seem to hit me about 20% of the time, and by the time I'm dead he is at around 30% health.

Opening with all of my high damage moves, then running away to kite. Ends up almost exactly like the above scenario.

Landing every debuff I can, try and melee him down. This ends with me on the floor at about 60% of his health.

My gear is decent enough, mostly lvl 20ish gear. I have Adepts for most of my songs (can't afford Masters yet), and I did the Firemyst Gulley quest on two characters so I could dual wield the daggers. Is there some trick I'm missing? Some fundemental strategy I need to beat this guy? Or do I simply need to wait until I am a higher level?

Is he charmable? Have you tried using excellent one-handed weapon and round shield instead of dual wielding?

Armour mostly decent? Maybe want to upgrade it, anything that isn't level 20+ is a wasted slot, same jewlery.

Potions - Get a buff potion (strength/endu or int/wis - or mitigation buff) and a damage shield potion.

If you are going to kite him then you want to equip a shield for the extra aviodance, and try to get a nice imbued Fir bow.

I'm not sure if this is just on PvP servers, but they have nerfed the speed you can move backwards. How do I hit him with my bow as I kite if I can't turn to face him?

Start out with sneak, he won't see invis. When hes in the right spot, open with claras, then cheapshot, gnoll master strike then flank attack. HO, snare him, then throw some debuffs on him while you kite, cast shrill, then cheapshot again, flank, hittem with melee attacks, and he should be goin down.

A few suggestions.Get 80% into your level, max all your defensive skills and try.Look at the types of damage he is doing to you. Boost your resist against those forms of damage.I've found that the early 20s can be hard. Try again one or two levels later, the new skills may help.

On Antonia Bayle, I have the server discovery for the earring of the champion. I dropped him the very first night the expansion opened. This is what I did.

I used my run speed buff and used a snare line on him. The ran around and around the outside of the arena using my nuke line. I also had hp regen and power regen running. He got me low at times, but just keep running and most of the times he will miss you.

Eventually, he runs out of power and then you can take him easy.

Druman Bass

I was finally able to beat him last night. I can tell that this will probably get easier later on.Now I just need to figure out how to beat Harclave at lvl 22! (the mushrooms around the spore king wipe the floor with me).

Try out the shield option. Note that before lvl 50, he was unbeatable for me. You can also have some heal potions made or some mitigation/ward/damage shield potions. all might help you get the edge you need.

He stompped me all through the 40's. Full legendary, many adept III's. It was not until I had my mez which let me refresh my timers that i finally beat him. This was pre LU13, though I dont imagine the situation is much different. He is very difficult to take with a troub pre 50.
