<div></div><div>I am David...and I am a noob.</div><div> </div><div>So I have been trying out the different classes and troubador has always sounded a bit interesting, but I don't know much about it.</div><div> </div><div>I like to solo most of the time...and when I think of bards, I think they are a "group only" class.</div><div> </div><div>Is this true for the most part, or can bards hold their own against an even-level or +1 mob?</div><div> </div><div>Just curious what you guys think and what you enjoy about this class.</div><div> </div><div>Also...is there a good guide out there for troubs? I found some good ones for a few classes, but most seem like there isn't one...</div><div> </div><div>Thanks!</div><p>Message Edited by flyingpenguin on <span class="date_text">03-21-2006</span><span class="time_text">10:03 AM</span></p>

I'm a 29 troub on Nagafen, and i've had no problem so far soloing mobs that are single and at my level or one or two above it. I've soloed quite a bit, and found it to be fairly productive thus far. So in answer to your question, troubs are decent soloers, we can do it just not as fast as some mage types.<div></div>

As a level 43 Troubador, I have no trouble with even level and yellow con Solo encounters. They are easy, especially if you learn charm tactics. I can do green con Heroic encounters, including nameds, but charm breaks make those tricky.

<div></div><p>I have never had a problem soloing with my bard, but if you take the STA AA line, it becomes a lot easier. I have so far put 16 points into this line and the other night I was defeating mobs 2 levels above me (yellow) with up arrows (solo encounters) and finishing with 95% health left.</p><p>With the round shield equipped you get hit A LOT less. Just remember to pull with our stifle ranged attack CA, and then with the shield bash attack (3 sec stun) + cheap shot they rarely get a change to hit you anyway.</p>

We're the best solo class.<div></div>
Bards can either be an extreamly good solo class, or one of the worst. It really depends on the players skill and their knowlege of the class as a whole, its strenghts, weaknesses, and what it is capable of doing. To me I rarely solo, most of my time I either am in a group or raid, but I certanly am app to hold my own against yellow or even +1s., yellow +1s can be tricky but doable.I would suggest to try different tactics out and see what works best for you. there are several ways to play a troub solo, some more effective than others, but they all get the job done. Our most powerfully solo tools are: hp regen, charm, snare, avoidancebuff, and mez(at lvl 50 and 70)<div></div>

<div></div><p>Having played a Guardian, Fury and Troub to 50+......and now a Necro alt to level 30.......I would say Troubs are middle of the pack in terms of soloing. My Fury could solo easier than my Bard as far as risk of death is concerned. My Guardian was only slightly behind the Troub. The Necro by far and away surpasses all of them in terms of soloing. My Necro can solo yellow without losing a HP and only using 20% mana which is then replenished by food and taping the pet.</p><p>Troubs are NOT the best solo class. They are not even in what I would call the top tier of soloing classes. They are middle of the road soloers and great groupers.</p>

<div></div><p>I solo 80% of the time because of the time periods I play. My opinion of Troubador soloability is:</p><p> - If you want to solo exp grinding, troubs are not good.</p><p> - If you want to solo quest exp, troubs are great.</p><p>My current play-style is that given enough time, troubadors can solo non-epic, green-con group mobs. This allows me to complete heroic quests solo and get decent experience completing the quest before all the mobs grey out. Of course, when I say given enough time that means using mez, which you don't get until level 50.</p>

<div></div>Guviena's Osmotic Ovation (lvl 44) and Guviena's Overpowering Ovation stifle target when both arrows hit. This is actually a great skill to use to pull. Not only does it have a chance to stifle the target, but it has two hits plus your bow's damage and possiblity of bow's proc. So you can do 1k plus dmg on the pull and still have all other attacks available.

I used to play a wizard, and I could solo a ton better on that than I can on my troub, but the troub isn't bad. No yellow ^^^'s for the troub, unfortunately.<div></div>

once you get to 55 soloing is over i have tried soloing mobs near my lvl they hit me for 4400-5100 dmg a hit and no they are not heroic, BLAM your dead thats how fast its over lol. Same goes for mobs in sos i have been hit for 5500 in a single hit from non-named mobs in the 1st part before doors cant explain it its like sometimes there are supermobs heroic ^^ that hit like named for over 10k a hit wiped out my party in 10 secs, the tank was hit for 10k-mit instakilled he was same lvl as mob full suit of cobalt ect. I think mobs are bugged again like before only it happening to non-named heroics. <div></div>

Erm, are you sure you don't mean HoF as opposed to SoS (HoF mobs can hit you on their first strike and later for such higher numbers).Soloing is not over at 55. At 70 I regularly solo as much of KoS outdoors as I want, be it up 1 named or normals. And that's not counting using the charmed mob/reverie method. We are far from gimped. Do I wish some of our spells would be altered to not be useless in part (drains power, lowers int)? Sure. But c'mon, a troub is not only a swiss army knife, it a really sharp one.<div></div>
