What % do you double attack with this maxed?

I am trying this line myself and so if noone finds out before me I'll post here when I find out. I have just gained level 4 in the preceeding skill so all points I earn will no go into the Double Attack AA.

I am hoping for a decent % chance because with the AA's so far on this line, plus a shield, soloing has become much more do-able. The extra attack to match the addtional defence could be very nice!

it's about 7% a level isn't it and there are 8 levels max so the math is fairly simple - don't think it goes up by any more or less at any point - have 14% just now for rank 2 and rank 3 says it will give 21%

Yup, bought my first point last night and the next one is another 7% making it 14%.

Hopefully it does continue like this and at 8 points spent we have a 56% chance of double attack. If it does then my days of soloing with dual wield are well and truely over. :smileyhappy:

Think about it. A decent T7 dual wield is about 44 damage rating. A decent 1-handed is about 65 damage rating. (please correct me if I am wrong here - I have not seen any T7 fables yet).

Using some simple and probably incorrect assumptions, we can have 2 attacks at DR44 (lets call it 8 or a single attack at DR65 that effectivly becomes DR100 if we account for the 56% chance of double attack.

So we have a higer DR AND a shield for extra defence. Can this be right or am I missing something?

Plus with only one attack instead of 2 we have less chance of getting a reposite back in our face.

Defintely worth thinking about.

The bigger question.....and I have done no research at all into this......is does the current level of itemization in the game support the tactic? I.e. is there enough Scout useable one handers in the game or will you always feel like you are using a lower class of weapon because the devs think all Scouts DW?

well, as a troub, i doubt i will ever melee a challening mob from start to finish straight through. I always mez, wait for all the counters to reset, blow through all my spells, remez and wait. it might take a tad longer but I almost always come out in the green with my hp bar where as if I just meleed constantly till the mob dropped, I tend to be in yellow, close to orange. sometimes red.

Equipping a shield along with the STA AA line does make a massive difference when soloing.

I have so far put 4 points into each AA of the STA line, and now with my shield equipped I have an avoidance pushing 80%.

I think I'll continue putting the next 4 points into the double attack AA to get a 56% chance of double attack.

After that I'll probably switch to another line because 80% avoidance is probably enough

Its certainly not for everyone, but if you like to solo then the STA line is a great choice.

It should be pointed out the bug that gives the round shield a 70% block chance is being fixed in the next patch. The avoidance number is highly misleading anyway, since the shield only protects the front arc (ie one or two mobs at most). However since the base block % of the round shield is being increased to 8%, puting 4 points into the skill gives it the same effectiveness as a kite shield. Quite good, especially when most people in this line are going to be getting more damage from the double attacks as well.I've found the extra 4 second stun ability quite useful as well. Allows a second flank attack while cheap shot is recovering, or a stun and step back for a stifle shot. Now if only the final ability in this line didn't look so utterly useless (well I suppose it might be useful for PvP).
