There was some banter in my guild a while back about different types of arrows doing more damage. Does anyone know the difference between the hunting, bodkin, rounded, and standard arrows?

I don't know very much about the Troub class. I typically play a Templar and am quickly falling out of love with it. And... we can use a bow, right?

Personally, I buy only the cheapest arrows and still do at level 63. I think they're iron arrows for 5 copper. I do this because when you use your bow ability, the quality of the arrow makes no difference. And now that MOB's are no longer immune to certain types of attacks (crushing, slashing, etc) there is even less reason for me to buy specific types of arrows.

Btw, my current bow is a NON-imbued ironwood because it has INT whereas the imbued one has no INT. I feel like I can do more dmg with 13 more INT than I can with an occasional proc. The INT is always active even when I melee whereas the proc occurs fairly infrequently and only when you're range fighting.

I am also going the WIS line with my AA's and got another bow ability. Again, I don't think the quality of the arrows effects the damage or chance of hitting the MOB.

Your normal troubador bow attack is a mental based ability, so the quality of arrow is meaningless. For auto-ranged damage (think kiting or ranged fighting when raiding) you'll need the highest tier quality arrows in order for you to consistently damage a mob. The crafted arrows (hunting/rounded/etc) refer to different types of damage dealt. Hunting arrows were supposed to deal slashing damage, rounded - crushing and bodkin were either more accurate (did less damage) or less accurate (did more damage).

Also, the cheapest arrows are tin arrows at 2c each. I buy mine off the 2nd merchant on the left in the Starcrest Commune merchant row (past the mender).

I get the iron arrows as well. I don't even bother with my bow auto attack damage...using a yew long bow for the 18str,18agi, 7int.

I found a good post over at the Assassin forum about arrows. Sorry I didn't research first. Here

I used to buy the cheapest arrows too, since range fighting was never my strong suit. However, with the amount raid encounters in DoF that required ranged attacks the whole time I switched paying the 3g/stack for the indium arrows (sold in E. Freeport). While the ranged CA never changed, my straight ranged damage went from averaging 80-120/hit with the iron arrows to averaging 600-700/hit with the indiums. So IMO, always use the best arrows you can find.

As a level 65 woodworker/62 Troubadour I get asked arrow questions all the time.

CA's do the same damage regardless of arrow type so if you are only using to pull i would suggest using cheapest available.

Player crafted arrows do more damage than NPC arrows and do different types of damage.

Bodkin =Pierce

Hunting= Slash

Rounded= Crush

As a raiding troubador I typically carry several stacks of tin arrows for pulling in xp groups as well as a few stacks of rounded arrows for crush damage when mob is resistand to my slash/pierce melee attacks.
