It is on the low side bellow some tanks but above most healers, this makes soloing slow from 30+ and down right tidious.

Once you get to 50 it becomes better when you get mez, and keeping you equipment and songs upgraded helps alot, but our main benifit is our utility! :smileytongue:

Our dps only gets better in long fights were we can use our proc song propley and tends to spike the damage.

Hi Thessik, welcome to the Troubadour forums!

I see you have quite a lot of questions scattered over the top few threads, so it would have been nice to have them all in the one place! However, check the link below for details on the current Troubadour spells:

http://eq2.ogaming.com/db/list/abilities_troubador.php

Also, I use an EQ2 spell database to check specific qualities of spell (eg Apprentice IV, Adept I, Adept III etc). There are several good ones, but I currently use the one I have linked below:

http://www.eq2idb.com/

You should be able to find the answer to most of your questions through these, but to highlight some of your questions:

"Is troubador DPS an issue? can a troubador be selected for a dps spot in a group and perform that role decently?"

Not an issue, but in most instances you would arguably do the least personal damage of the scouts. However, you will be augmenting the DPS of your group members, eg + STR or Haste for melee classes, and procs for casters. Along with your other utilities, this is why a bard is useful in a group.

"if a troubador cannot DPS as high as all the other DPS classes, what is his role on raids? does he just turn on buffs and provide mediocre dps instead of /afking?"

As a support class, the buffs and debuffs are the most important thing. If you concentrate though, your DPS is unlikely to be worthless - unless the encounter is resistant to mental attacks. Otherwise, you will be able to be quite active - the post LU13 troubadour is much more fun to play on raids. If you want to do high personal damage, though, you have chosen the wrong class :smileywink:

"are the buffs and debuffs provided worth having several troubadors on a raid or would that be gimping the raid using that many slots for subpar dps? (if indeed it is)."

We aren't that popular a class for this to happen often, and if you decide to join a raiding guild in later levels there will be restrictions on how many of each class can join anyway. However, the alliance I raid with sometimes has 3 troubadours present due to an inbalance in utility class numbers. We are arguably the most adaptable buffers in game, so you can buff any group you are stuck in (although there are certain group setups that are preferable)

And from other threads...

"Selos lists 22% speed increase and 32% increase.. which one is it? and why does it list two.."

There are upgrades to Selos every 14 levels, starting at 13 I believe? Can't really remember, but the last upgrade is 34% around level 42 as I recall.

"Likewise with attack haste song, why two values and which of the two is it?"

Spells vary depending on quality (Apprentice I > Master II), plus Haste also is upgraded every 14 levels. The database I linked above will show you how this works

"Along with that line of thinking.. just how much does a troubador help his group? I know the buffs are good, but how good? does it justify having a troubador as a group spot instead of a ranger?"

We aren't particularly similar to Rangers - they are a very high physical DPS class, whereas we are a utility class the primarily deals mental damage. If a group is looking for a buff class, it will normally come down to a Dirge, Illusionist, Coercer or Troubadour depending on what it is the group wants. All four can do mana regen, with the Enchanters having the best crowd control, Dirge focussing on enhancing the physical capabilities of the group, and Troubadour as more of a jack of all trades (ie you can buff the tank, physical DPS, casters, some crowd control, good encounter debuffs etc). If the group wants a high DPS class to complete their setup, then the Ranger is the obvious choice.

"The real question is this... Does a charmed pet take 3 concentration points like an enchanters charm?"

Not exactly the real question as it is quite an easy answer if you have the spell or check the links above! But is is 1 concentration.

"Question.. do both dirges and troubadors get the same AAs listed above?"

Bards share AA's

Think that was all! In future, if you have a bunch of questions it would be best to keep them all in the one place. Plus, a lot of the simpler questions can be answered for you, either on existing threads or on websites or databases....such as those linked above! :smileywink:

Message Edited by WorldsAway_Nybor on 02-12-200603:42 AM
