View Full Version : Hows the late game soloing for Troubadors?
<div>Hi there a bit about me before I start, I play a 26 guardian for my main class and have been searching for a more aggressive soloing based class to use in my free time. Or when I get bored of every encounter taking a few minutes. Long story short I rolled a monk recently it was still more based on longer fights with getting hit rather then dealing damage so I decided to wander over and look at the scout subtypes. I was a bit surprised to see Troubadors here (I always thought they would be under cleric for some strange reason.)</div><div> </div><div>I have so far had two experinces with Troubadors one was grouping with one and the other just observering and talking to one. The thing that fasinated me was he said Troubadors are the one class with virtually no downtime due to HP regain and Power regain songs. And after watching for a bit he was quite right.</div><div> </div><div>This is probably the ideal ability for someone who wants a fast alt with little downtime like me. I know they have a decent fighting ability at the beginning levels but my main question is how do they fair late game 50-60.</div><div> </div><div>I can imagen we won't have near the dps of someone like a ranger or swashbuckler, as well as won't be able to take hits as well. Though even with those things in mind about what range do we fall into on those aspects, is our DPS or HP late game bad enough that we couldn't even think about anything other then group play?</div>

<div></div><p>I have several alts, the highest of which are a lvl 60 Troubador and a 55 Ranger.</p><p><strong>I prefer my Troubador</strong> because of all his group benefits; his flexability to adjust to fit whatever people I'm playing with for the most benefit. My Troubador can solo just fine, whether I'm charming a mob to assist me, or just mezzing adds, or just melting their brains with my powerful singing voice. </p><p>However, my Ranger can drop the same encounter with a trap, a couple stuns and a few fast, HARD hitting poisoned arrows. I may have to wait to regen my power, but the mobs are dead a lot faster. I still amaze some people when I throw 2 arrow shots into a mob and kill it before it's made it halfway towards us.</p><p>My highest damage spell recasts fast, but hits for between 1200 and 1400 damage. My wife's lvl 60 Ranger's highest damage shot hits for between 8000 and 8500 damage.</p><p><strong>I prefer my Troubador</strong> because I enjoy playing in groups. You sound like you want a solo playing character, and for that I'd choose a Ranger.</p>
<div></div>Hmm well I have cosidered ranger and assassin quite a bit neither of them really cater to my play style. Both are for taking out huge monsters and then resting a moment before taking on another huge monster. I think Troubador might be better for taking on groups of little guys if his spell is on a short recharge timer rather then some of the 1-2 minute recharge timers I have seen in other classes. Anyone else have their thoughts.

<div></div><p>I think as soloers we're good for questing in that we are not efficient in killing mobs quickly, but we can do things that many classes cannot. So, if you need some heroic named to update a quest, you can kill it, but if you're just farming for plat, we kinda suck.</p><p>Addressing downtime, good food and drink are many times more effective than a troubador's regen. We're basically group characters that "can" solo, just not very efficiently. Also, our personal dps is rather sucky.</p><p>I think a wizard or warlock with good food and drink would be more your style.</p>

<div></div><p>I play a level 53 Troubador, mostly solo because of my play time and frequency. I agree with your observations, and also with the other feedback.</p><p>I do have very little downtime. I rarely even have to use mana regen buffs or even drink to keep up with my mana needs. Of course, an Erudite Troubador has certain advantages in terms of secondary power stats and racial abilities buffing power pool and regen. Selecting Master II health regen spell and imbued rare chest armor also contributes to low downtime.</p><p>However, pay attention to the "up" time. It takes troubadors longer to solo a mob than other scout classes, and the tougher the mob the longer it takes. We are a very "safe" solo class, but not necessarily a fast-grinding class.</p><p>I especially agree with the sentiment that we are an excellent solo questing class. That is how I get the bulk of my exp. Heroic quests are completable with our skill set. We're a great class for mowing through lots of green and grey mobs (the downtime you mentioned), and we have the ability to solo certain group encounters and even epic is they are sufficiently grey.</p><p>Finally, I agree I like the group-friendlyness of playing a troubador. When there are pickup raid opportunities, I nearly always get a spot.</p>

<div></div><div>From what the original poster has been describing for his play style etc, I am not sure a Troubador is the class you are looking for. I have a 60 Troub, 55 Ranger and several other classes in the mid 20-mid 30 range. From what everyone has said, the Troubadors are incredible in groups on the way up and in the high end. </div><div> </div><div>Solo, I was very frustrated as it was almost imposible or at the least extremely difficult to solo from the middle levels on up to 60. I suppose this was because I was used to how easy I could solo with my ranger.</div><div> </div><div>Another factor which may come into play, unless you have extremely good gear for your tier, chances are your troubador will not have an easy time soloing, unfortunately...</div><div> </div><div>I have played a monk to level 20ish as well, and well, they can take mobs down faster than a troubador can....</div><div> </div><div>The best things about a troubador are the buffs we bring to groups, how much we enhance others in the group.... We charm or mez targets which is a huge bonus essentially alowing us to solo when we have to, though, charm and mez imo are not very reliable especially if you do not have evac up....</div><div> </div><div>Though, overall I enjoy playing my Troubador over any other class at this time, get a partner or two and everything will fly by....</div><div> </div>
<div></div>Thanks for all your input, I tried a warlock and have found the first few levels, 1-10 at least quite amazeing. Though very fragile I can plow through most enemies at a good speed.
