<div>This is from the LU 19 dev message:</div><div> </div><div>Charmed pets should follow attack commands more reliably. Pesky critters.</div><div> </div><div> </div><div>Can troubador charmed mobs be used as pets as in eq1???</div><div> </div><div>If so that would be awesome!</div>

<div></div>Personally I quite like the fact that I have to throw myself into battle in order to get my pet to fight on behalf of the group: being able to order the "pet" into battle wouldn't be the same at all <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<div></div>OK so troubador pets do not respond to player commands as they did in eq1 ??

they cant be ORDERED to attack but yes they attack!!say if i walk passed a bear, i charm him walked on to the the next bear and start to attack... the first bear will join me in my attack. i am a lvl 59 troub and use it veyr often these days. even in a group if we get a ^^^ add.. i can charm him... he will attack with us. then when we are ready i release him.. just be very careful as you get massive aggro so if your tank is not ready it can be a little messy. its a brilliant!!<div></div>

<div>The pet can't be ordered to attack, but it's already set by default to Defend Me.  So if you get hit, it attacks.</div>

<div></div>Our charm was changed in the LU19 .  Everytime the charmed creature gets hit / takes damage there is a 10% chance to break charm.  Damage shields will be the death of our charm lol.  It can work rather nicely though if you have agro, but they wont be able to take hits for us very often.

First I thought they wouldn't attack based on the spell description... and my first mezzed mob DID join me and attack his buddies (it was rather fun to have a "partner&quot<img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />.</div><div> </div><div>Then I had charmed a white mob in a later fight and as soon as it got hit, suddenly it was attacking me again. Wasn't sure what the rules were, since I'm fairly to EQII.</div><div>Too bad. It would have been nice to have a tank of my own, like the conjurers and illusionists... Instead, my temporary pet has ME tanking for HIM!</div>

This whole charm thing sounds kinda iffy to me, how can it be best used to a Troubador's advantage? For instance can you charm a priest mob that heals you while fighting? I really do wish they make this charm an Actual charm at some point instead of being a glorified Mez where the mob follows you. I miss my days of charm kiting in EQ 1, ahh the flies in PoD were my friends for a LONG time. =)

As has been mentioned many times on this board before, you can pull with a charm, mez another as they come towards you and you've already taken 2 mobs out of the equation. Not only that, but the first mob that hits you gets agro from your charmed mob so you have some assistance beating him down.</p><p>But the main advantage over Mez that I see from our charm is this. For a muti-mob encounters, lets say you mezzed two and killed the rest. You then drop the mez on the remaining two, taking them one at a time. This way the encounter is not over until they are all dead and all the time you are getting in-combat power and health regen rates. However, if you charm one of the mobs, as soon as the others are all dead the encouter is effectively over and you get out-of-combat power and health regen rates, which are much faster, especiialy with food and drink. This way, you can med up to full health and power very quickly before breaking the charm to beat down on the final mob. And before anyone asked, you still seem to get the full exp bonus for defeating a multi-mob encouter once the last mob is dead.</p>

What about the charmed pet heal question? Can that work? From the coercer forums I hear that they can charm pets that heal and nuke so will ours as well when they defend us?

Is there a time limit on the pet? If you have one charmed and you haven't been attacked in a while, will it turn around and bonk you when you're not looking?Hehe, and a little side note, what are the best mez spells for troubs?<div></div>

<div></div><p>The real question is this...</p><p> </p><p>Does a charmed pet take 3 concentration points like an enchanters charm?</p><p> </p><p>I can see that being very troublesome for a troub.</p>

<div></div><div>Once upon a time the troubador charm did take 3 concentration [edit: hmmm... it may have even been 5 slots at one point. So many changes...]. And, as a result, it was completely useless, requiring far too much set up time to use effectively. As of a few months back, this was changed to one concentration.</div><div> </div><div>There seems to be a fair amount of confusion over the troubador pet charm, if this thread is anything to go by. Some important aspects of it (in its current incarnation, that is) to note are:</div><div> </div><div>1. The pet CANNOT be ordered to attack, it is set to Defend. The pet WILL attack - but ONLY if the troubador is attacked. Which is why Seefar tends to throw himself into the fray when he has a pet, often to the chagrin of the tank... and it's why troub pets often sit gormlessly on the sidelines doing nothing... </div><div> </div><div>2. Every time the pet is hit there is a chance the charm will break. So.. if your pet is under attack, do your best to get that aggro off him before he turns on you too!</div><div> </div><div>3. The charm has only a short duration (five minutes at high level, shorter at lower level). Use him, or lose him - fast!</div><div> </div><div>A word to the wise: use this charm sparingly when in groups. It does make for FUN melees, but the action can get VERY confusing. Those who are unfamiliar with the troub charm are often confused by it, and a confused teammate is one who is scratching his or her head in puzzlement, and not contributing to the fight...</div><div> </div><div> </div><p>Message Edited by Pendant on <span class="date_text">02-13-2006</span><span class="time_text">04:00 AM</span></p>

<div></div><p> </p><p>lately i have been using charm more. I pull and then assist the pet. this way i know for sure that we are beating on the same mob and he doesnt have a chance to grab aggro from me and start getting hit.</p><p> </p><p>most of the time, i would just prefer the pet sit there and do nothing as some mobs cast aoe dd /aoe dots which can break it, but they are pretty gung ho about attacking. in that case, i mez before i charm, so at least for 40 secs it stands there doing nothing.</p>
