Initially, you might have some trouble finding groups. But with any great artist comes the waiting period between rocking and the world acknowledging it. Slowly but steadily, you'll build up a fan base, and if they keep up with you in terms of levels and vice versa, you might become the house band, if you catch my drift. My advice: find out how to work your buffs into the most useful situation. Main buffs to focus on, IMO:- Self buff: no bard goes without solo moments. You might also be a combined DPSer/buffer in threesomes with a tank and a healer. This ups your AGI and INT (more INT than AGI)- Aria's line: procs. A Norrathian's best friend.- Bria's: power regen. Eventually better than chanters' version by 5 point per tick at ad3 for both.- Alin's line: ha, ha, ha, ha, stayin' alive. Reduces the non-fighters' aggro.Debuffs to focus on:- Group debuffs. Any and all.- Single target debuffs: focus on Giuvena's (mental debuff and snare) over Lore's (defense debuff and power waste for the mob, pretty much useless that last component)Other than that, it depends on your playstyle. Focus on damage spells > combat arts and on buffs that will directly benefit you and you'll be better at soloing. For the groupie, stock up on group buffs. As to combat tactics, open up on mobs with a sneak attack if possible, hit them with Lore's for more of a hit chance, stun them with cheap shot, run around and flank attack them, rinse and repeat. Opening with a bow attack can also work when facing caster mobs. Later on, learn how to use the Charm effectively as soon as you get it. It can greatly increase your chance of winning an encounter, once mastered. When you've got this down, endure the ride to 50 and mez. Then bide the time to Precision of the Maestro at 58.
