<div></div><div></div><div></div><div>With the new PVP servers coming out shortly I may very well quit my Ranger and start over as a Troubador (or maybe even Dirge).  I would like to hear some thoughts, concerns, and hopefully a little encouragement from the bardic community concerning the issue.  Some questions that come time mind are:  How well do you think bards will do in PVP?  How easy/troublesome will it be to kill other classes?  How hard will it be for others to kill them?  Which classes will give bards the hardest time, which the easiest?  Which bard would be better in a PVP environment, Dirge or Troubador?  Are the two primary stats still Agility and Intelligence, or will Wisdom and Strength also come into the forefront?  What are some good classes do duo with as a Troubador/Dirge?  What skills belonging to each class (Troubador/Dirge) will be the most effective and disired abilities in a PVP environment?  The list goes on-and-on but you guys can see where I'm going.  As I said I'm very seriously considering going from my PVE Ranger to a PVP Bard.  I know it will be tough to go from a class that I feel would shine magnificently (from my own personal experience) in PVP to one that I am usure of (due to a lack of knowledge about the class in general).  So please try to reply honestly (maybe with a little bit of optimism) and leave any bitterness behind (while I'm not certain that this is a common trait among bards I have read several boards where a bitterness about the class was apparent.)</div><div> </div><div>Thank you all for your time,</div><div>Jet Black</div><div> </div><div>P.S.  My friend and I are joining together and he'll probably play a shadowknight.  Which would be more beneficial to him?  A troubador or a dirge?  Thank you.</div><p>Message Edited by Jetblackrogue on <span class="date_text">01-09-2006</span><span class="time_text">10:25 AM</span></p><p>Message Edited by Jetblackrogue on <span class="date_text">01-09-2006</span><span class="time_text">10:25 AM</span></p><p>Message Edited by Jetblackrogue on <span class="date_text">01-09-2006</span><span class="time_text">10:42 AM</span></p>

Well if you want to make a bard to duel, for sure don't make dirge.  I play my troub and I really, well, don't lose almost ever.  You will have problems with monks...and thats about it lol.  But if you want a mindless skill-less dueling class, play a ranger.<div></div>

I have seen lots of duels at the sinking sands docks turn into mad kite'ing sessions. If thats the way most duels go I don't think I'll bother as it just doesn't seem right to me.

<div></div><div>If I were you I would go Troubador, we are a class who can take any of the classes on as we got a wide range of skills and buffs depending on the encounter.</div><div> </div><div>I think the biggest problem will be the SK but I think with the right buffs and skills set up you can prolly take them on as well.</div><div> </div><div>I got both SK and a Troub, but if I was to go live on the PvP I would go for the Troub.</div><div> </div><div> </div>

<div>I dont lose duels except to Monks (mental stance) Bruisers (sometimes) and Defilers (no idea why they are just nasty)</div><div> </div><div>Everything else is cake. . Got to get the right combo of stifle, mezz, stun, snare and its easy.</div>

to the bards leading these guys down the farming path/  do be that way.if you have range on a target when you start the fight troub can win almost flawlessly with the use of our mez/stifle.  if someone gets the jump on you.  just lay down  they will hammer you so quick and stifle/stun you that you will become frustrated.  our selo's is great for running away but its not going to help since as soon as you start combat it breaks.<div></div>

<div></div><div></div><div>Hmm, I dueled a troubadour the other day.  The class has some rather annoying and effective abilities.  :smileytongue:</div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div>That didn't stop me from winning though.  heheh</div><p>Message Edited by StaticLex on <span class="date_text">01-22-2006</span><span class="time_text">03:56 AM</span></p>

<div></div><p> </p><p>do you guys still use cheap shot, that lev 6 spell?</p><p> </p><p>its one of my primary spells and almost always lead off with it. super fast stun that allows you to get most any other spell off to control the fight.</p>

<div>Usually lead with my stifle ranged bow shot, but cheap shot is a really nice spell for dueling.</div>

<div></div>My usual routine is opening with the the bellow line, which has an instant casting time, (with dove song on to the lessen chance of resists) to interrupt them for 4 seconds, in this time i can toss a few debuffs on them (lore's, guviena's chant, and demoralizing lines). I usually back off, aided by the slow from lore's, and fire off guviena's ranged stifle to keep them from casting for another 7.5 seconds, Flawless shrill (hits well after mental debuff), run in and hit 'em with the instantly casted Courtly blade, cheap shot, get behind go into stealth then fire off Walt's and Clara's, around this time cheap shot is wearing off, so pop lullaby on them so you can get bellow and ranged stifle back up, then repeat the chain. Buff accordingly, I've been saved from resists on my stuns by requiem when facing casters on a number of occasions (always odd seeing "Your Ice Comet hits....for..." )haha. Aria can be proc'd quite well if you know how to time the spamming of your attacks within the limits of stun timers. Healers are usually burned down well enough with lore's to finish them off. Anyone with high mental resists or immunities should be kited, with snare and ranged/cheap shot and ca's that are melee damage. Hope this helps, more than anything people get annoyed dueling us, usually referring to lullaby as one long killer stun =).

<div>cheapshot has been nerfed for dueling 2 seconds now instead of 6, our mez is easily broken with a manastone. we can't over power with DPS cause we have none ... if you are winning easily against alot of classes is because the people you are dueling suck</div>
