<DIV>Hi,</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I recently started to try Scorn and AT with my Troub. But to be honest, I fail in AT without killing any mob. My problem is that my pet never manages to get agro. I got charm and detaunt on adept III. But even spamming elude does not have any effect. And in case my pet somehow manages to get agro, the charm breaks immediately. This only happens in the instances. So where is my fault?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>
<P>This may not answer your question completely, but explaining how I use charm may help.</P> <P>If I use charm offensively, I use it in a grouped encounter kinda like this:</P> <P>1) If it's a group of 2, the charmed pet generally does not tank. I use the pet as a means to cut the encounter's DPS by 50% (more than 50% if I charm the caster). I then take aggro myself and let the charmed one help me. Btw, it is best to charm the nuker since he does more DPS and will drain much of his power on his buddy and won't have much for you after charm breaks.</P> <P>2) If it's a group of 3, I charm one of them and run in among the encounter to gain minimal aggro from the other 2. I then run some distance away and typically the charmed pet has taken aggro on one of his buddies. I then quickly kill the 3rd mob, turn my attention to the second mob, and hopfully charm has not broken.</P> <P>3) If it's a group of 4 (not ideal), I do the same thing as I do with 3 mobs, except that I tank 2 of them myself and still kill as fast as possible (see Precision of the Maestro, hehe).</P> <P>If things don't go according to plan and you are a level 50 troub, mez becomes quite useful.</P>

well I'm Level 60. My normal tactic outside of AT and Scorn is (in a 3-mob encounter) to mezz the first mob, then charm a second one and to detaunt on the third. This normally results in a situation where mob No. 2 and 3 kill each other (in fact the charmed pet always dies because of the weakening effect). Thereafter I charm the third mob and kill the first one that was held in mezz until then. But this is not working in AT and Scorn... <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<DIV>Minor diff on my strats hmm I think,</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If I remember charm has a longer cast time than mez,</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So cast charm on the closest and then mark the far one and stack mez as the next cast<BR>The mez should go off shortly before the mob gets back,</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As far as I have seen the charmed one will only attack if damaged, so if it was a 4 group or a hard 3 then I will de-agro myself to try get the other twoone go for the charm (have on occasion done it more than once and I try not to climb in until agro is passed)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As soon as the charmed one is hit it will climb into one of the ones bashing it, I will always try to go for the same one to get the numbers down ASAP</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If I see the mez timer getting close I will re-mez quickly and if the charm breaks most of the time I will spent the time re-charming it,</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If I see near the end that the pet will survive I will break the charm ASAP to leave it as weak as possible.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Can be fun managing it all but can make up loads for Troubs lower dps and less able to take damage.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>PS<BR>If you are taking on the goblins in ss try charm a raptor (good for a laugh they a mindless so have yet to have a charm break and they seem to be set on attack mode, any time I had one it attacked right off, could have just been lucky but helped a but with the write when one blundered into a battle)<BR></DIV>

Our charmed pets make horrible tanks, they're used for crowd control and a little dps. If they get hit more then 2-3 times, charm will break. Just pull with mez, charm one, kill the rest, kill your mezd one, kill the charm. <div></div>

<P>On several occassion while soloing, I pull with charm. On a group of two the charmed pet, for me anyway, picks off the other mob and does tank it rather well. I have not had the problems you guys have. On a group of 3 or more, I charm pull again, and by time the other three get to me the charmed pet picks off one, and I mezz one of the 2 that are attacking me. If i can get it in quick enough I can mezz both the uncharmed ones and kill the active mob left. Next I keep on mob mezz'd (usually the one with the longest duration left) and pick off the one thats about to break. The pet again will tank it for me if I just let the mezz break itself and automatically anti-aggro myself. Keeping the last one mezzd while doing this, we kill the one we are workin on. I'll break for a moment to catch my breath and snag a recharm on the pet then proceed to kill the last guy, break charm and kill him.</P> <P>I soloed yellow groups of heroics when I went through leveling. Of course it took some time to perfect but the skill to do so is one well learned for use in a group. A troubador with enough skill and practice can rival an enchanter. Obviously not as good but can give them a good run for CC without a group mezz.</P>
