View Full Version : Anyone use Haste Buff?
<DIV>I know the answer is yes, but I am wondering in what sitaution you would use it. I have so little regard for this buff that it's the only one I have not upgraded to adept III. I have used that buff literally like 3 times (when there were like 4 scouts in the grp). Don't get me wrong. It's a nice buff, but relative to all the other buffs I have to choose from, it gets left out in the cold (along with requiem). I wish SOE would give troubs 10 concentration slots, hehe</DIV>
Rarely will i ever use it, its effectiveness is so low that its pretty much only good when your bored and need to kill a buch of grey mobs, and dont feel like hitting buttons. <div></div>

<DIV>The problem with this buff is that it only affects auto-attack speed. Very little damage comes from auto-attack (this is true for most classes.)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As a troubador, the greater percentage of my total combat damage is from combat abilities. Hasting the remaining attacks does not increase your total dps by much at all. Not nearly as much as using a buff such as Aria. Even in a full group of fighters and scouts, I would wager that it has little effect since everyone will use CAs constantly. If the average encounter lasted 3+ minutes, then this would be much more useful as all classes would begin to run low on power and would have to use auto-attack instead of constant CA spamming.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I personally rank haste low on the abilities list. The concept may sound good and look good, but it simply does not apply to the greater percentage of your damage. Compare that to EQ1, where haste was necessary for any fighting class. But hey, different game, different combat rules.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>When I have to choose any five buffs, haste just never makes the cut. But that's just how *I* feel about it.</DIV>
Has anyone paresed our haste to see if it actualy does anything? Never really did or notice a differance just assumed it did something befor. <div></div>

<DIV>Group haste is VERY effective in the right group. Normal everyday grouping not so much as the mobs die so fast that auto attack damage is minimal. Encounters that take over a minute, auto attack becomes a better sustained dps if hasted well. Correct me if I am wrong.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As an example:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Zerker</DIV> <DIV>Troub</DIV> <DIV>Shadow Knight</DIV> <DIV>Bruiser</DIV> <DIV>Inquisitor</DIV> <DIV>Assassin</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Group haste would see a large dps jump for the other melee's in that group</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Compare that to:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Guardian</DIV> <DIV>Templar</DIV> <DIV>Troub</DIV> <DIV>Wizard</DIV> <DIV>Conjuror</DIV> <DIV>Fury</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>And you might reconsider not using that haste buff. As with almost all buffs, its a time and place comparison. Are you killing mobs just by spamming a few combat arts or do your fights take a while because you are trioing a ^^^ heroic a level or 3 above yours. Raiding... well troubs can be a melee dps supporter, a mage dps supporter or a MT supporter. Of the 3, Haste in the dps, and use it in the other 2 groups if you have the conc, otherwise its not gonna make a huge difference.</DIV>
