<DIV>Hello, </DIV> <DIV>         I have played EQ2 since the day of launch and I must admit that i do think the game is great. I Have up to this point played 4 classes in depth, enjoying the perks and limitations of each. I too also enjoyed the overall combat revamp introduced simultaneously with the highly anticipated Desert of Flames expansion pack. I play 4 subclasses at the moment; first, a troubador, the first EQ2 character i have made and thus my "main toon;" second, a warden, my favourite healer class and therefore my main "alt" or the character that gets second priority when it comes to my overall playtime; third a bruiser, and last but by no means least, a swashbuckler - the latter two classes being my "fun characters" who i play less seriously but enjoy nonetheless. </DIV> <DIV>         LU 13 did a fair job -  i dare even say good - of bringing the classes down to earth. There was a time prior to then that when playing either of my two main characters that i could buff avoidance to ridiculous heights. My Warden buffs were "nerfed" but they overall remained the same, just in a more limited fashion. My troubador, however, has been entirely changed into a new class and thus the role I play in groups has been altered markedly. </DIV> <DIV>         I did not whine and complain and quit playing my troubador as many claimed they would or actually have (how many have actually quit i am unsure) but continued the push to lvl 60 and yes, despite the changes made, I still had fun doing so. However, what would be nice is an OFFICIAL class description for the troubador post LU13. Such a description from the subclass designers would indicate exactly what is class defining, what differentiates us from Dirges, and overall from scouts in general. Trust me after playing this class extensively for such a long time i do know myself, but i would like a description that would convince me and others rolling a character that a troubador is a desirable class to play. This I feel would give us troubadors some consolation about the total redesign of our class. For me, as with many others, the current state of the troubador class is definately not the subclass I chose to play when I initially choose and created my character. Therefore I think an official explanation of the direction of troubador as opposed to the dirge and even other scouts would be extremely helpful in shedding some light on the reason(s) behind the major changes. </DIV> <DIV>         I still play my troubador more than anyother character and continue to have fun doing so. I guess i am somewhat emotionally attached heh. I simply would like an explanation as to to the new role that a troubador plays in a group a raid etc, and this by no means needs to overly detailed; a general idea would simply suffice.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>        Thanks for your time, a still avid troubador.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Oh yes i must add that I now play a 5th character who has quickly leapfrogged the bruiser and swash in playing time. That character is a dirge. :smileywink:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

You won't see the Devs posting "this is what X class does."  This is for several reasons. As game developers know and frequently state, the player base ultimately figures out what to do with each class.  It's the player base that figures out how to use classes and mixes of classes to solve problems.  Having game developers state what each subclass is "supposed" to do would stifle creativity at best, and at worst would lead to the "we can't do <encounter_888> without a member of class X, Y and Z" mentality that they try their best to avoid. As to what "differentiates us from dirges," we don't need the game developers to tell us that.  Simply look at the lineup of troub. spells and dirge spells and it's immediately apparent.  And it's been discussed in many many threads on this board. As to what is "class defining," it's clear that EQ2 developers have tried really hard to avoid placing highly unique abilities on only one subclass.  Look at mesmerization abilities for example.  Enchanters, troubadors and even wizards can mesmerize (am I leaving out a class?).  Very little in EQ1 is class-defining, and that's on purpose. <div></div>

Mystics can mezz too.  Only every 15 minutes I think though.  It's kind of a panic button mezz but handy to have.  <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />
