<DIV>Was/Has there ever been combat log parsing to determine the effectiveness comparison between dual-wielding and 1H/Shield use by a 'normal' Troub/Dirge?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm currently using two DH whips, but they're not 5 levels below me I think, so it's time to start thinking about the new weapon(s) I'll need to acquire.</DIV>

I found that I could solo more effectively with a sword and shield, but when in a group you dont need the shield, soo having both is good, but alot of it depends on the stat increases you gain from the items. <div></div>

Thanks. It was that way before and just was curious if things had changed all that much. Basically if you're doing constant powers, then the relative slowness of a 1H is ok, but if you're doing more damage through the autoattack and/or procs, then you'd want DW weaps.

<DIV>I use both styles quite frequently. I for one am a shield hoarder, I have lots of specific shields for various resistances and stats. Both are great styles to use really. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>When soloing I usually keep out the shield just for added defense and a sweet 1h sword. Since most troub dmg is magical, you could have a shield with a really big intelligence bonus and a 1h dagger with an intelligence bonus as well. DW's tend to have strength and agility more so. 1H daggers do have really great dmg output and a relatively low delay. Sometimes if enemies aren't too hard or if you have enough haste ou can shred mobs down without too much harm to yourself. Most of the shields I use, have an adornment. One has Vitality (inc. out-of-combat hp regen by 50), a type of feedback, and some other various effects.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>In groups I stick with dual wielding to aid better auto attack dmg in between abilities. At points I switch out gear during battle to help swing my stats one way or another to help on resistances or more proc's. Helps with aoe mobs so the healers won't have to waste mp on spot healing.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>All comes down to preferance though.</DIV>

Weirdly, or maybe not, I prefer dw when solo and tend to allow a short space between spells/ca's to land my 2 blows. When grouped, out come my shield and one-hander - both chosen for their +int stats and help to make up some of the lost int as I usually drop Daeli's for a more group friendly buff. Usually get +int buffs from another class or two and the difference in int isn't too great. Especially when raiding, as I tend to stand back and not melee at all, my survival and buffs being deemed more important than the small melee dps I would contribute. Choons 60 Troubador <div></div>
