<DIV>Hi,</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>anyone able to beat the Arena Champion as Troubadour yet arround my lvl? I tried with different setups 1hand/shield, dualwield. Used potions (heal, PR/DR, stamina, str), used buff rings (stam, agi , str). Uppgraded to max PR/DR with what i could found on broker.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I tried to run him and soak mana, tried running him just nuking/bowshooting, I tried to fight face to face. IT all resulted in the same my death and the lvl 30 Champion laughing his [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] off having 85% HP.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I dont have fabled on my Trouba  but i dont think that should be requirement for winning easy arena (yes i clicked right one). </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Any ideas?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

Finally beat him at 38 today....Had health regen song up, magic resist, Niv's if I recall. Loaded up on good arrows and kited.Basically while kiting, kept tagging him with power drains, the bow shot, and scream. Took a while, but in the end he finally died =)<div></div>

Is kiting him the only way to do it?  It seems like it must be, and yet it's still frustrating.

For us, yes. Kiting is the only way I've seen.I tired direct melee for a while with it ending fast for me each time. Tried w/shield, dual, various song combos... Note: I didn't use any potions, and only have average gear for my level atm. I did use the best arrows I could find though.<div></div>

<P>The Solo Arena is very difficult.  I am working on it at level 46.  I have had difficulty with the 3rd mob and the 6th mob.  The 3rd mob cons even and the 6th mob cons level+1 (yellow).  Fighting these mobs head-to-head is not a realistic option.  I have an avoidance of over 70% and I cannot win this event.  The special attacks like Crushing Blow are landing for 500+ damage.  I have not gotten past the 6th mob.</P> <P>All of my armor is yellow or orange and has the highest AGI and mitigation stats that I can find (and afford).  I also tried different combinations of songs.  I tried using my shield.  I haven't tried any potions, but I would need a complete heal to win the event.</P> <P>I have avoided kiting in EQ2, but I cannot see any other way to win this event.  A troubador just does not have the mitigation to win the fight.  The arena is very small and difficult to kite in.  I often get hit in the turns.  I am putting up my heal song while kiting (35hp/tick), but I would have to kite for 60-90 seconds to make up for a single hit.</P> <P>I am thinking that I will need to wait for mez at level 50 to win the fight.  That is assuming that I can mez and mana drain the mob at the beginning of the fight.</P> <P>Any input is welcome.  Thanks,<BR>Arnaut @ Mistmoore</P> <P> </P><p>Message Edited by Valdas on <span class=date_text>07-27-2005</span> <span class=time_text>02:29 PM</span>

<P>tried many times at various points in my 40's and could toe to toe all mobs up to champion but got nowhere near him using any method.  Thank god for evac or i'd have a stack of debt as long as your arm.</P> <P>Hit 50</P> <P>Pulled with arrow song (forget the names - just use the spells <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><BR>Nuked with biggest nuke as he was charging towards me<BR>hit the mez and switched off attack as the spell was almost cast<BR>pulled back a bit, waited till mezz had popped and repeated the above.</P> <P>Not the most exciting fight but finished with full health</P> <P>I have one fabled item (kedge neck) and one master spell (the nuke) and thats it really - pretty standard gear</P> <P>Has my shield equipped to help with any hits he did manage to land, buffs didn't matter as I wasn't meleeing him.  Think i did it once with max agi buffs and once with heal/power regen.</P> <P>As an aside I also tried a few times with my mid 20's pretty well equipped SK and whilst she got him much further down in health it still wasn't happening - maybe now I adept 3's her HT and have reached pet level i might try again.</P> <P>A friend also told me to look out the old gnoll masters spell you got when a little toon then soon forgot about.</P><p>Message Edited by Faidheanta on <span class=date_text>08-30-2005</span> <span class=time_text>08:42 AM</span>

<DIV>Should all be able to do him alot easier now - too easy maybe.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Took him down with my Troub on test tow days ago, he was 29 at the time. No kiting. No legendary items or potions, (unlike my Dirge on live who did him at similar level a couple of months back). No proc weapons.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Anyways you'll see for yourself today. The Trio was the toughest fight, that dwarf almost killed me after I dispatched the other two.</DIV>

<DIV>Yes, this is possible now. I usually got hit hard on the 3rd mob, and where nowhere near taking the 6th.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Today I had problems with the dwarf+elf+halfling combo, but its pretty easy once you get the timing right and use the charm right.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Champion itself was a walk in the park.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>New Gnoll Mastery works very well.</DIV>

<DIV>Valdas,</DIV> <DIV>I'm level 46 as well (bottom of the level) and i beat the champ the first time i fought him after the patch - the fight before it was actually harder for me.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My song lineup is:</DIV> <DIV>Daelis</DIV> <DIV>Power Regen (i have this as master2 - my regen is sick)</DIV> <DIV>Health regen</DIV> <DIV>2 stat songs (forget the names, sorry I'm at work and can't look em up)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have crappy armor. And by crappy, I mean....crappy. Most songs are adept 1 except Bria's which I spent my trainin on for master 2. I also fought him toe to toe - no kiting. I feel i'm a good example of crap gear.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>A lot of it is learning to use your new abilities in quick succession so you're constantly using something. Combat is much more fast paced.</DIV> <DIV>1) I started off with Gnoll Mastery strike while invis (this helps a lot)</DIV> <DIV>2) Used the mana sucker/health drain next (again, sorry i can't lookup the spell names at moment).</DIV> <DIV>3) Went into a HO - using the defense debuff to trigger it, and the shriek to finish it (casting time 1 now, whooo)</DIV> <DIV>4) After all HO's i use the blade strike which drains power. Follow it up with all your debuffs while your HO recharges.</DIV> <DIV>5) Another HO, this time using the elegant blade to finish it.</DIV> <DIV>6) The other shriek song where you have to stand still to cast (easily interrupted though).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>From there, it's just a matter of CONSTANTLY applying pressure to him when your icons come around, and use HO's as often as possible. The key for me was speed. The faster it triggered, the better. Though i was dual wielding at the time, I rarely paused to just attack him, so use 1h/shield combo i think for better results. I was pretty much casting a song or hitting a special attack the entire time. The right combination will take a little getting used to. Before the patch I used certain combination moves together for best results, but with the speed changes/casting time changes, I had to relearn my moves. This really is critical to develop a good routine of rapid succession attacks based on their casting times.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>With that I'll let you play around with it some more. I'm sure your character is variant to mine, so my strategy (and the fact that I can't remember the song names) will only help so much. If you're still having trouble, PM me, and I'll go home tonight and get the song names and successions that work really well for me.</DIV>

My strategy for the gnolls where: Sneak attack (int debuff) - quick HO - cheap shot - Master + flank attack - debuff - nuke nuke nuke nuke <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Power never was an issue in any of the fights, so I didnt have power regen up.
