My opinion:

Give us an instrument for the off-hand/shield slot that DOUBLES the effects of all songs played. Especially now that SOE "fixed" song stacking.

Your opinion?

I think making all songs 1 concentration point would help. Maybe decrease the cast time on our shout DD's.

I say bring in instruments and have them play actual tunes . Like as much as stats are nice to have, the "performer" of the game should at least be able to perform something. Short sound bites are really a thing of the past in games, so say I. Let the bards rejoice and fill the ears of their compatriots with MUSIC!! . Oh well, just wish something like AC2's music system was in place...now that was really something (too bad the only good thing about AC2 hehe)

(That being said, mind you, a percentage increase to currently playing songs would be sweet dependant on the qual of the instrument too )

Pleaeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease!

RPG elements will help alleviate all the classes complaints about how useless they are i think. Like "entertainment spells" done right could have been like; a Ranger summons up camp, Bard plays a tune, Mages cast off fireworks(yah like the intro hmmm), fighters well...maybe they could throw their companions up to higher levels in dungeons lol i dunno, but working instruments would be nice.

I don't really want to give up my offhand weap... how about the consumables slot like poison uses.... some minor buff using "lute strings" or something... a consumable item.

I think it would be really cool to have like a way to host songs from your PC... via like a shoutcast server that would then play on your group or raid members PCs if they elected to have "bard music transfer" turned on.

It would kick butt to engage an uber mob and have a lvl 50 fluff spell that would allow me to turn on like Drowning Pool's "Let the bodies hit the floor" for my guild.

Or better yet... pull off a combo manuever and make my tank dance using my lvl 20 fluff and kick off "It's raining men" using the proposed lvl 50 fluff.

While I will agree more role-playing elements need to be implemented, ( fitting to a bard class ) IMO no amount of these elements will offset the current state of this class as it is.

The problem we have here was the ability to stack our songs in the first place.

Should they be able to stack? of course not BUT this should have been "fixed" the right way either,

1. In the very beginning and / or

2. When they noticed people were using Troubador bufffs to push past 300 Agility and thus making them almost unhittable.

Instead of fixing them at the time to not stack, what do they do? They nerf stats altogether for everyone. Imo, Troubs only had two things going for them after this point,

1. The Songsters Luck line

2. Being able to stack buffs ( imo, after the nerf to stats, you had to stack all the buffs to see any benefit at all from them but when you only used one, there was a noticeable difference ) [ which we can no longer do now ]

I wont go into details of the weak mana / hp regen or broken spells like the Elisse's Ditty line or Aria of Excitement line ( as these have been brought up before )

Now, add this latest patch to our Low DPS ( of all scout classes ) and a host of broken spells and the Troubador is a one trick pony....

and that trick may be to just put them out to pasture :smileysad:, till they can fix this class at it's core

This doesnt mean i'm shelving my Troub ( i'm trying to remain optimistic, plus waiting for a response after Moorgard posted :smileyhappy: )

But it certainly is one more straw on the camels back.

Grayl, 40th Lvl Troubador
