<DIV>Hi Tigerfun,</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Only lvl 22 troubadour so far, but here is what i can tell.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>First, i took this class because i usually love hybrid class (Tank/Caster) and especially the Jack of all trade kind.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I felt a bit disapointed from lvl 10 to 20, feeling i was nothing but a "Scout" in disguise not able to do much but weak Buffs, sneak around, and do some descent dmg.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It looks like, the older i get, the better it is, with more "tricks" in my bag to play with to try to make the difference between life and death in a group. (choice for buffs, charm, debuffs, short root, etc.)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I never had any problem to group (though, the only really needed class in a group is a healer type)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Solo is average, not worse or better than my SK at this lvl, i love the scouting abilitys, and i make a descent tank if none is around.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>You don't have to twist, but as you got MANY abilitys, you'll spend much time during fight pressing keys to change HO result, land your special attacks, stun and backstab, refresh buffs and mana regen, etc.</DIV> <DIV>Troubadour isn't for the lasy guy if you want to play it well, but i like it this way <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I hope it will continue to get better, so far i'm really enjoying it. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>By the way, i'm not sure, but i think if you are interested in soloing, Dirges might be a better choice as i've heard lifetap helps you quit a bit staying alive at higher level when you are alone <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV><p>Message Edited by Sharkan on <span class=date_text>01-18-2005</span> <span class=time_text>09:32 AM</span>

<DIV> <DIV><EM>Hiya, I am new to EQ2 and thinking about becomming a bard.  I never played one in Eq1, because my old computer could not handle the twisting of all the songs, but was wondering how it is different in Eq2?</EM></DIV> <DIV><EM></EM> </DIV> <DIV>The EQ2 bard plays a lot like a EQ1 ranger.  The EQ2 bard has almost nothing in common with the EQ1 bard.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Forget all the things bards could do in EQ1; they have either been massively reduced in effectiveness (movement buffs, resists, mana regen) or removed outright (chants, general resist debuffs, pulling, crowd control.)  You can solo somewhat (not efficently though), and nothing like bards could solo in EQ1.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>There is no twisting.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>You are basically a class that people add to up the DPS of a group.  Bards are on par with the other scout classes for getting groups; no particular in demand for bards, no particular avoidance of bards, you aren't essential for a group.  I find/make groups easily during primetimes, often have trouble off-hours.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My advice:  Qeynos=Be Dirge, Freeport=Be Trobadour.  Those are relatively rare in those cities; and from a min-max point of view... being an extremely rare subtype for a city is a major advantage that outweighs the differences between the classes.</DIV></DIV>

<DIV>I'd say : chose the one (dirge or troubadour) that suits you the best as after lvl 20, chances are good that people from both city (qeynos and freeport) will be mixed and fight together. </DIV>
