What do you use this song for, Bria's Entrancing Sonnet? I found this song very useful in groups from time to time, but i'm curious of how all of you other Troubs feel.

<DIV>This spell has limited application, cant use it on 2^^ or bigger (not even green ones) and the timer is quite long) BUT nevertheless this spell has saved my party many times I have the adept 1 version and I think I have only  seen it resisted once. I have used it on grouped reds no problem. I would say it's main use is for pulling mobs off a groupmate in trouble (usually healer or nuker) but is also useful when your tank is taking too much of a beating. It is also useful if for some reason you are fighting grouped mobs solo. Just be advised that when the charm ends (aprox 20-25 secs) the mob will aggro you and stay with you like the plague. And one more thing...despite the description on the spell you can order your "pet" to attack ...heh you can even make it dance with the fluff song..:smileytongue:</DIV><p>Message Edited by Monomofo on <span class=date_text>01-17-2005</span> <span class=time_text>08:37 AM</span>

just pay attention not to use when you fighting a group of caster or AoE damage dealers. Unless it is fixed if one of the mobs you are fighting AoE it will hit your pet aswell that will start fighting against his own group breaking the encounter. If it is from a different group is ok and it will help you in that battle.

<DIV>At my current lvl of 35 I find this spell almost totally useless, I am almost all of the time fighting ^^ which it dosnt work on so i really never find a use for it.</DIV>

<DIV>I basically only use it when a healer/caster is getting beat on to draw the aggro back on myself.  But as it has been mentioned, I only use it on solo adds or xx ^ mobs.</DIV>

<DIV>Too bad recast timer is so long.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I mosty use it to give time to the party, or when a caster is being beaten up and no one can take aggro back.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It can be usefull as one less monster beating your back for 20s can often make the difference between a dead group or a leaving one.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The main interest is : people can still AOE like mad when monster is charmed as it doesn't make it break <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>

<DIV>oh !</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>how stupid i am !!! <bonks head></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I believed what was written on the spell description and never tried to do anything with charmed pet</DIV> <DIV>This midday, i tried once to charm 1 monster between a group of 2 and told him to guard me.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The uncharmed attacked me, and the charmed one defended, attacking is friend ! (never manage to get aggro but remove a good 30% of his friend's life.)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now that make Bria's entrancing sonnet a lot more interesting. (have to try it on higher lvl mobs)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Dirge can chain fear, but if we can have some control over our little 20s duration charm, and use it to help, it makes it a lot more usefull and i don't care about the the long recast timer any longer <grins></DIV>

Of course, it could also be considered a bug.

If you ask your new found pet to attack or destroy it then it will attack you, however asking it to defend you and putting it at risk is very ambiguous and not sure ability was designed to do that. Yes it could be a bug.

<DIV>If it's a bug, it's a good one : as the charm is short duration and long recast timer, it doesn't make us overpowered, but it gives us a new trick to pull out of the bag, and for me, it's exactly why i decided to play this class : lots of tricks in my bag.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Jack of all trade, master of none, that's my vision of the Troubadour</DIV>

<DIV>I have never asked any charmed pet to guard me but sometimes they will attack the things I am fighting without me telling them to do so.  I am not complaining. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>

<DIV>Actually I almost always have my charmed attack and it doesn't break. I've found that a lot of the spell descriptions are outdated. I have it up to adept1 so far. You have to be carefull with it. If your charmed uses a Barrage and some non agro encounters are near the fight they might get pulled in also. Also another thing the creature will receive all your group buffs, (ie regeneration). After charm breaks be prepared to tank it, cus nothing is getting it off you. I mostly use it to save a caster or healer from getting beat on. You probably also will want to notifiy your group that you have charmed something, otherwise they will be engaged with it and not actually doing anything while trying to figure out why they can't hurt this creature.</DIV>

anyone timed it? It seems like a 10 sec charm....not 20 sec.

Tested it yesterday and boy does it work well. There is a group in Thundering Steppes consisting of a highland patriarch and a highland matriarch. I charmed the highland matriarch and asked to guard location and started to attack the matriarch! Truly a sight to behold, plus now I have escape I feel that later in levels Troubadors have a lot to offer a group. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><p>Message Edited by RobertQuicksilver on <span class=date_text>01-19-2005</span> <span class=time_text>11:56 AM</span>

<DIV>I have the Master I of this skill and honestly it's very situational. Possibly the worst part is that when it breaks the mob hates you so much that it is very hard for the tank to taunt it off you. So while you give the group a reprieve for a couple seconds (and I do mean a couple!) you have to take into account that the healer now needs to split their attention to keep you alive. Situationally useful could be greatly improved. Here are some idea</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>- Make it a single target mez with much lower recast time</DIV> <DIV>- Keep it as a charm (still unable to command an attack) with a longer duration and/or lower recast time tremendously</DIV>

With the limit on what kind of mobs this can be cast on they shoudl just change it to an actual Charm spell, not a pretty useless 10-20s mez. It should just allow you to charm anythign less then ^^ and use it to guard/attack/follow etc until you decide to break it. At least give it a 1-2 min timer so it actually serves a purpose.

<DIV>A mostly useless spell. It could be used as emergency crowd control every once and a while, but all that usually does is confuse the group for 3-4 seconds. I don't even keep this spell in any hotkey, it's just stashed away in Knowledge.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>-Crescendo</DIV> <DIV>-50 Troubador</DIV> <DIV>-Ex Nihilo, Mistmoore Server</DIV>

<DIV>After some playing more with this spell I've found that when I have the mob charmed and attacking something, if it last too long that it tends to break the encounter after charm breaks.  I either just use this as a save your caster spell or for amusement. Its pretty funny watching a charmed fish pet your pet. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>/me totally agree with you, Sharkan.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I just posted the same term about my "Bag full of tricks" in another thread <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> without having read this one.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The Entrancing is very nice but its duration is short. So i basically use it in case i want to give our tank some time. I preferrably avoid to pull duos with it because at the end of the charm you and the mob have developped a strong hate relationship.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Nice to use as a way to save your group from being wiped :</DIV> <DIV>- If it does work, you are giving time to everybody (enough time to rez the tank actually... as i tested it in a critical situation)</DIV> <DIV>- If it does not, you are giving time to the others to escape while you die or run the opposite <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>And it is always funny to be guarded by a mob too.</DIV>
