Just finished the qeynos troub quest & got my 1hs, I know they've got alot on their plate but it is sad that they couldn't at least change the reward to be the same as the freeport-troub....ah well, gives me an excuse to try out my shield.

I really don't think they are going to change this. Maybe in the future sometime, all Bards FP and Qeynos will be given the choice of Dual Wield or 1-Handed when they complete it. It's not really a huge issue though since you can find much better quested or dropped weapons 20+ in zones like Thundering Steppes, Nektulos or from a broker.

<DIV>Define much better. Higher damage only? Stats are important, they really are. I use my Arrel's and a good shield, I'm very rarely hit, and do (much) more damage than with a pair of non-stat daggers.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

The advantage of being a Troubador in Qeynos is that you get a 1hs.If your slashing is maxed, you do much better soloing with a good shield. If you are in a caster heavy group with no tank - you do better. If instruments are implemented (they go in shield slot) - you do better. You are now even more viable (more options). I would think they other troubs/dirges would be complaining because they didn't get a good 1hs.

<DIV>All facetiousness aside, I hope they do implement instruments, and I do hope they are shield (off-hand) usable, and I do hope that you'll need a 1H weapon paired, because then I'll be able to go neener neener at all the l33t DW Bards who all have 10 slashing. :smileyvery-happy:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Seriously, I'm not a 1HS advocate, but whether or not the Arrel's Sword is a mistake yet to be fixed, or it turns out that it's the Freeport DW dagger that's the mistake is not relevant to me. I'm happy using my Arrel's and a shield, no matter whether I'm soloing or as part of a group. As good as my bodyguard is at holding aggro, when I need to refresh my 3 minute timer songs in the middle of a group pull, all of a sudden *I* am the tank.</DIV>

I was referring to weapons better in every way, stats and damage. I gave my Troubador sword to a Pally guildy of mine and he used it a while. It is grey to both of us now, so getting the 1h Sword instead of dual wield never really effected me. I still think SoE should give us a choice, or give us all the same weapon.

<DIV> </DIV> <DIV>a one-handed instrument is ridiculous.</DIV> <DIV>when it happened with the tamborine in Kunark, that was 'OK'... it was a tamborine.  It was kinda a one off thing.  It should have ended there.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>You play a lute with two hands.  You play a drum with two hands.  You play a flute with two hands.  Get the idea?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>They should make instruments.  They should be compelling enough to use in their own right... and they should be 2-handed!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

IMHO that single-handed weapon is ridiculousyou CAN AFAIK (correct me if i am wrong) use a dual-wield weapon single-handedly, i.e. with a shieldbut NOT the other way roundanyway -- handing out a single handed weapon is forcing me to use one of two possible playstyles...and that alone is badit seems we are the only dual-wield class with an issue like that ?what's really insulting is the way SOE does not even acknowledge there IS a problemi filed a bug report and tried to get a dual-wield weapon via /petitionthe answer (seems to be generated form-letter style standard crap) 1. post in official forum any concerns and 2. they will do nothing about it...really annoys me big timeoh and to the poster who mentioned there are better weapons to be had --if i take that argument to the extreme why do we get any equipment at all ?there's always something better to be had -- it just *might* be a little harderto actually *get* that equipment if starting out barehanded and naked ....and as everybody else is getting a weapon he CAN use for HIS/HER PREFERRED playstyleall i demand is fairniss -- give me the same, give my dual-wield class a dual-wield weapon dammit

<DIV> </DIV> <DIV>guys... I think you are totally overstating the case.  You are going to upgrade weapons 3 or 4 times in the 20s.  A 1H weapon is not the end of the world and might encourage you to try a slightly different weapon set up.  Much of your damage is from HO's and abilties... at a minimum these will be unchanged; and on the off chance that some of them are affacted by weapon damage... you'll do more.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>(If I'd have had my way... I'd have gotten a drum that allowed you to move around the world faster when it was equipped... why does a bard quest reward us with a weapon at all?  why not something... well... musical?)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>
