I have no trouble staying alive or anything, the issue is, when more than 1 thing is pulled, I can't hold aggro against the group, and a few attack the healers =/Obviously this is my mistake, just wondering what I need to be doing differently,im level 37, thanks!

Well, would be better if a tank class did the tanking unfortunately.

Getting the group taunt from the STA AA line helps a lot. Also, if there is more than one mob, wait until your taunt refreshes from the pull and switch to mob 2 and taunt quickly, even if mob 1 isn't dead yet. It will help pull aggro for when you do switch to that mob. Also, ruse can be used as a nice aggro builder at the start of a fight.<div></div>

open with a taunt on one mob, then use your aoe. that's usually my opener for it. in some situations, i just keep switching targets and hitting different combat arts to keep my aggro up on that target. i'm sure it's tough for some people to hit stuff then, but it helps me keep control. don't forget about beg for mercy. you can cast that on people who steal aggro to get it back and keep them from taking too much damage. it decreases their hate position and threat to the entire encounter each time it procs. also make sure you have any aggro-reducing abilities off (baffle adversaries).when you get double up, you can use it with your aoe on the pull, that helps a little too. it's tough to tank multiple enemy encounters, and you'll have to tell your aoe-ing groupmates to back off a little, most likely, but it can be done.<div></div>

at 70 i have little problems holding aggro going WIS/AGI lines. No extra taunt.. the key is as others stated.. mob skipping. .. Keep going through the targets.. From what i understand its the same way for a monk type.<div></div>

Multiple mobs can be an issue unless you're stamina line, in all honesty if I wasn't a raiding Brigand i'd go full stamina in a second. Stamina line makes you arguably equal at tanking to a SK or pally and with the dps of a scout retained. Without stamina line I only tank when the real tank is AFK, I only serve as a full time tank in SoS or PoA.

<div>Get your AE upgraded as best you can (master preferred, adept 3 min if you'll be tanking a lot).  Use it as soon as all the mobs get into camp.  Damage taunts better than taunts do.  Damage with stuns even more so.  You don't need to even waste time with the taunt skill, get in the rhythm of pulling with damage (or proxy as needed), aeing the group when they get to you,  using your stuns, jumping behind, and laying on the damage to keep their attention.  Use the taunt only as a maintenance when all your damage CA's are refreshing.  Map nearest NPC to a convenient key so you can use that to target as well as manual picking.  If you have folks in the group doing heavy ae damage, do as others above have mentioned and keep "tapping" all the mobs.  Later when you get double up, your ae doubled up on a group at the start of the fight will hold any heroic encounter until they are dead, unless your group is very slow.  Lastly, remember that when a mob is on the healer or a mage... it's back should be to you.  Use this opportunity <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Don't bother with the taunt, just stun and stab the hell out of it.  It will turn.  Have your group use an assist key, not auto-assisting through you, so that you can quickly switch to tap extra mobs without them leaving the main target.  Plus any good damage dealing groupmate needs to know who the implied target of the mob is... and that can't happen if they are being lazy and auto-assisting.  </div>

Depends on the size of the encounter but the best way to hold agro for an encouter of 3 or less mobs is....Pull the encounter with group snare.Target the first mob and use your taunt.Target the second mob quickly and use double up so you can get a taunt off on the second mob.Target the third mob (if applicable) and hit your AE and then stay on that mob.  Keep doing the Multi Double up taunt technique on the mobs you arent auto attacking and keep doing the AE.<div align="left">If anybody grabs a mob off of you, target the mob, and use the Beg For Mercy line to get it back on you.  </div>

<DIV>Just to add that after doubling our weak taunts the best tool we have to build aggro is with DPS, and mainly the big backstabs.  Rotate targets and keep whacking any back that is exposed to you.</DIV>

I tank Nek 3 pretty good better than my zerker friend anyway. Group always wants me to tank it. Of course I did go full Stamina line and half Strength throw in walk the plank and tanking is piece o pie.

<DIV>okay here is the thing if its two encounters your group pulled, you are going to have to switch targets and taunt the other encounter. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>You can also, let it beat your healer some then use your detaunt/intercept when the time is right. Then aoe taunt. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I am currently tanking CT and perma in the 40s with my stamina brig, and while my tank buffs are adept III or better, ive also run it using the "rash advance" line when Quenos were near without a major issue... well okay my eyes did pop open a few times when tanking a yellow ^^^ with the offensive stance on hehe.</DIV>

<P>I'm rather puny lvl 24 at the moment, but I only had one or two times yesterday in fallen gate loosing agro, and that was usually to the warlock and I was chain body pulling non stop.</P> <P>groups of 2 are cake, just burn through an ho on the primary mob and aoe ca + 2 single target ca's</P> <P>then swap to the 2nd mob and fire off the taunt and another ca, then switch back and ruse.</P> <P>toss in blackjack and jump behind the mob and spam your 3 positional's, then taunt off target mob again, and swap back.</P> <P>groups of 3 or more are a bit more difficult and I have to cycle through each mob using a ca / taunt on each one leading off with the aoe ca.</P> <P>if someone grabs agro i can usually pull it back by cheapshotting (to stop them from being beat on) and spaming positionals until I pull it back or its dead.</P><p>Message Edited by IllusiveThoughts on <span class=date_text>08-30-2006</span> <span class=time_text>09:37 AM</span>
