View Full Version : i know you all hate silly questions but whats exactly Ruse?

hi, i always read about ruse and how good it is, and that swashbuckler doesnt get it.well i did start a brigand but i plan to betray freeport and turn into a swashy.i dont want to start discussion whats better choice, its personal taste for me, because i think swashy got more area attacks and in exp grps its area attacks what is needed i think, this makes my swashy more mage-like danmagedealer because i will be able to hurt all enemies at once instead of single targets only like brigands do.but i still read about that strange "Ruse".whats that? a skilladvancement tree from addon KOS?or a single attack that is very very strong like furys area attack for example (which is insane strong).whats the deal with ruse, just interested in , might stick with brig if it will increase my personal fun,. again i emphazise this is not swashy vs brigand discussion plz.<div></div>

It's great in PvP when you are doing one on one and both of you are near low health.  It's a finishing blow pretty much, but on the other hand if he doesnt die with it, then your defense is way down, and you proably will die.<div></div>

<P>Before they fixed it I mean broke it, no no wait fixed it ... oh [Removed for Content] it use to be a awesome attack every 1 minute that did somewhere around 1500 dmg around level 20ish (and you could use it on a mob you couldn't even see if you had it targeted)*. They fixed it so you had to be hit for it to go off which was the way it was intended however when putting in this fix they overlooked the agro it was suppose to give you pretty much guaranteing just lying on the ground since you don't get the agro.</P> <P>What it is good for now is soloing, pvp, or when you take agro from the tank you can smack the crap outta the mob then use deaggro stuff to give tank agro back. Yeah... I think that it was originally that way just to make a gimped class somewhat usefull(at least, that's what I was told, I personally always loved the brig)... They fixed us with LU13, iirc. I've found that when grouped, the ruse line works quite well in conjunction with the intercept line.  I duo a lot with my wife and she loves to pull aggro from me with her big Fury spells.  I hit my intercept, then ruse.  When I intercept for her the surprise attack goes off and whatever we were fighting is either dead or hurting.  Likewise when we group up with a tank friend, I sometimes will cast interrupt on him, then ruse. <div></div>

Doesnt work for me at all anymore.</div>

<FONT color=#cc99cc>I liked the Ruse version where it just fired from any postion, at 20m, no requirements..... ahh the found memories of pulling with it, and having stealth feign me or Befuddle being the 100% 1 postion deaggro.   Groups would be wondering where all the "adds" were comming from till they noticed me out smacking things.:smileywink:</FONT>

The weird thing about the agro gain is that sometimes it does work. I have pulled agro when accidently casting it. It's just not at all predictable. I wish that if the intent was to force us to be tops on the agro list so this would HAVE to go off, then they should have it working as intended  or set it back to always going off without agro. It's an awesome attack if you are playing tank in a group. It would be a hoot if it were added to the Double Up list, even just for one LU. :smileyvery-happy:
