View Full Version : Brig or Swashie?

Post this in the swashie forum wanted to see your take on it:I am relatively new to EQ2 and played a bard in EQ1 for a long time.  So I went to a DPS class to start with this time around, but the warlock is severly lacking in utilty for me.  Hence the question of a Brig or Swashie for my next class.  Any feed back here?<div></div><p>Message Edited by Mooncrow on <span class="date_text">03-15-2006</span><span class="time_text">07:01 AM</span></p>

erm if you're looking for utility...besides group invis and evac, neither Brig or Swash have any utility at all.  We have zero group buffs other than Pathfinding.I suppose an arguement could be made that our debuffs help the group as a whole but...usually when people talk "utility", they want group buffs. You can still do decent DPS as a dirge or troubador, and your group buffs are some of the best in the game.  If you want utility, you'd be best off with one of them.IMO the general debuff breakdown is this...Brigand debuffs help the group DO MORE dmg.Swashie debuffs help the group TAKE LESS dmg.Now both classes have crossovers into each other's realm of expertise...but that's a good general split.SariesRobber (robble?) Go Swashbuckler. Why ?Because if you choose Brigand you will come back here and ask :- what the best race- what stat you should choose to pump- should you go chain or leather- is dual wield better than 1handed- where to find a guide or a faq about brigand class- what are our fluff spell and where to buy it- where to find an up-to-date skill list- what AA skill would be the bestyada yada yada.So yes. Go Swashbuckler.Definitely.

There are several thread for each topic in this list.I'm ok to be helpfull and to share knowledge, but I'm not ok to do some babysitting on brainless and/or lazy guys that don't want to make the slightest effort to dig a data that is already in this forum.Oh, I may be a kill-joy, of course I only speak for me.I guess every other brigand in this community will be really happy to answer every day/week : what are the best attributes to choose for a brig, if we are better than swashy, if our heals are ubber etc. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><div></div>

<div></div><blockquote><hr>DarkMirrax wrote:<div></div>and helpfull :smileyvery-happy:<hr></blockquote>Who said a Brigand had to be helpful or friendly?  The only thing we are supposed to be helpful with is removing your of all your coin and maybe a good dagger in the back.

Brigand is the best class in the game...period.  If you want to know why then just roll one, lvl to 70 and raid for 6months.  After that you will come here and post how you agree with me.<div></div>

<div></div>Brigand for teh win!!! Why cause I have more masters than anyone I know when they drop in guild guess what I'm only Brigand and if not in guild they are really cheap on market cause there are only 10 or so of us able to use them and I imagine most of them are just like me with only one or two in a guild.

Don't worry Twist, I buy most of mine off of other players, I have 8 T7 masters now, so it's only you and Shadin fighting for most of them. Unless a devitalize or malicious assault drops <span>:smileytongue:</span><div></div>

<div></div>i like swashies, they make the tank die less, and i make the mob die faster, sure we're even on the parse, and we have the same utility (whoever said we didn't is a <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn]ing [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] mother[expletive haxx0red by Raijinn]ering [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />) so what do you like more gaoe's or outright solo target poonage and sexy classhats?<img src="http://images6.theimagehosting.com/kiwis.gif"><div></div><p>Message Edited by Riversideblues on <span class=date_text>04-12-2006</span> <span class=time_text>12:30 AM</span>

<P>All right, I actually play both Brigand and Swashbuckler, and hear is basically what it comes down to.</P> <P>Brigands are slightly better at soloing. One major damage ability revolves around being hit (Ruse line). A major Swashbuckler one involves not getting hit (Bravado). Brigands get a mitigation buff, which in general is harder to raise than stats, which is advantageous.</P> <P>In groups, personally, I think Brigands are slightly less useful for debuffs than Swashbuckler, but they do more damage, too.</P> <P>They both have pros and cons, neither is a bad class.</P>
