View Full Version : Brigand vs. Assassin
Hello all,I have recently created an evil scout. I have a lvl 21 ranger. I cannot decide whether to create a brigand or assassin. Would you please describe to me the difference between the two classes? I would like to know about their DPS, things unique to their playability, and any other hints you can give me.Thanks
As a Brigand, I recommend you choose Assassin. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />
Agra,Why do you say that?
Because Assassin's are better, of course. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

It depends on what you are looking for. If you give us a general idea of your play style, maybe we can be of better help in narrowing down what class will best suit your needs, wants, etc.

Indeed, the last thing you want to do is choose brigand. In fact, never mention this class again. :smileyvery-happy:

<P>Brigand is a horrible class. Assassin/Ranger/Swashbuckler is the way to go. There's a reason noone plays Brigand.</P> <P>No really.... it's true ... >_></P>
There is no such class as brigand now move along. :smileywink:

Since you have a name like mine Grozny to my Grozney and I am a brigand i will not stand around and have a copy cat like you become a brigand too! Make an assassin <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />
<DIV> <DIV>Groupped with a couple brigand last night back to back. They were doing about 150-200 dps average. I'm not sure about Assassins but they should be around that range too if not higher.</DIV> <DIV>Really depends on how diligent you push buttons. <IMG height=16 src="http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif" width=16 border=0></DIV></DIV>

And I have, in all of my travels, only come across 3 casters that can keep up or out-perform regularly.</P> <DIV>It is so funny that since so few people play brigands, people aren't aware of their capabilities - even now after many months since release. In one-hour of grouping in a pickup Permafrost group last night, Statalyzer shows my average DPS at 206 with a low of 131 and high of 321. The funny thing was, I was parsing using Combatstats, but not posting them to group chat (and not even announcing I was parsing on a different channel - for my own benefit). After the first few encounters included a 1500+ Ruse, 2 of the other group members posted their own Combatstats results (which I was unaware were running) to the /gsay and were clearly taken back by the DPS and how quickly we were mowing through stuff. One person remarked "150+ DPS, not bad". </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Well I had to set the record straight and tell her it was below average and with the help of a level 48 dirge for the next hour, I put my money where my mouth was as my <EM>average</EM> DPS for that time was 206+</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have no doubt other scout classes (or even DPS classes for the matter) have similar stories about their proficiency in battle and the pride they take in their class, so I suggest you play what you feel is best for you, not what you think will do the most damage - even though besides casters, I believe it is brigands or assasins in a close race for non-caster "highest DPS subclass".</DIV>

<P>I have to agree. brigands are alot of fun. But they are a little bit harder to understand how to use the available skills. Plus we get medium armor so we can do some tanking abilities when an emergency arises. Assassins BLAH. Just put a few def/agi debuffs on the mob that we have, and go to town <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P> <P> </P> <P>But between my monk and my brigand, I would rather much play the monk. But since the wife smacks me everytime I want to play em, I am forced to play the brigand :smileysurprised: <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P>
