View Full Version : Why can't brigands use blunt weapons?
<DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Title says it all- why can't a brigand use any kind of blunt weapon? It seems like a natural fit, we get so many attacks that stun and the like.... why don't we have the ability to use weapons that do crushing damage? Was it just a matter of we got lumped in with other scout classes who can't, or is there some other rationale I haven't thought of? </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It's mostly relevant due to the number of boss mobs I've encountered with immunities to different kinds of weapon damage- it'd be nice to have as many options as possible, I think. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

We have out slashing and piercing. Fighters get there crushing and what ever. The same for other classes. It would be unfair to say one class can use all different weapon types but the others can't. But it you really wanted to use that kool looking hammer then you might want to make a alt that can or so on. Just how it is.

<DIV>this is very annoying that we cannot use blunt, some mobs are resistant or even immune to one of the other, some are immune to one and horribly resistant to other. A mob like Sulusek Fist lvl 55 ^^^ is immune to Piercing it hink it was *or was it slashing;p* and extremely resistant to to slashing so i'm sitting there spamming 7-10 dmg swings when supposed to be a big dps class ;p the kicker on that mob is that it is pioson immune so hiddenshiv/craven, and Shiv/Elisis's Shank dmg is horrible without the dot. than you go to a mob lik eDarathar who is lvl 58 ^^^^ he is not immune to either... but his resistance is sooo high that he is unhittable iwth piercing or slashing by anyone in my guild this is ridiculious.... i literally just sat on a dock and waited for fight to be over whenever we face him.... </DIV>

Something like that should be looked at because it destroys one whole class. The scouts from being any use at all in battles. I can understand one type but having both is not right.
<DIV>Blackjack is a small handheld stick, that can stun, we have the CA, but not blunt weapons? The use of saps and other small stunning blunt weapons is historically and near unuversal in the game genre.</DIV> <DIV>Every MMO, and RPG I've ever played before allows it. But it's one less weapon type to maintain skills in, so I see it as a trade off. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Maybe, it's just an oversight, was meant, but with the eleventy gillion other broken things, most much bigger than this, it just slipped through the cracks.</DIV>

You ever want to see a bugged game go play SWG, even it is past it's second year and has more Bugs then this one will ever have. But please don't come up with the defense for Blackjack, I have seen a post about this along time ago and it got nowhere. I think it was eventually locked or something happened to it.

<DIV>Well, we might not be able to use blunt objects, but we can still do crushing damage!</DIV> <DIV>Check out the level 29 CA "Disarming Thrust"... it does crushing damage heh. (at least mine does)</DIV>

<DIV>I've wondered this myself as to why we can't use a blunt weapon. On the EQ2 website under characters-archetypes-scouts it does list for weapons we can use as being: Axe, Sword, Flail, Hammer, Mace, Spear, Dagger and more. Maybe it's just something the devs will wait to add later and give us a skill to work on that will raise very, very slowly-heh</DIV>

<DIV>If some mob's are flagged immune to peircing/slashing, we should have the ability to switch out weapons to a blunt weapon. If they are looking to slow down encounters they should just raise resistances on melee or magic, not make it impossible for some classes to contribute. People will soon learn not to take certain classes on some outings because they won't have the ability to do any damage.</DIV>
