<DIV>What is the best way to increase Safe Fall Skill?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Does it matter how high you fall from? I mean, beyond the fact that the height has to be great enough to need a safe fall, does height have an effect on your chances of skilling up?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>height probably matters, but I think nobody knows for sure</DIV> <DIV>got mine up to 104 now and can jump from nasty heights <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>

it *seems* that height matters. At 114 skill, it takes a nasty fall (enough to kill anyone else) to get any skillup, whereas I got to 100 or so just running up steep surfaces and jumping off backwards over and over.At 104 safe fall I fell (not jumped... it was an accident) from the top of N'Marr's ascent and lived.

<DIV> <DIV>I'm not sure if height matters or not either. But my advice is the obvious answer -- whenever possible jump off high spaces as much as possible... I've gone up 40 points since I've been in Nek Forest just by running up the diagonal columns of the bridges and jumping off while running through, or jumping of the ramp. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Theres plenty of places too in North and South Freeport that while waiting for a guildie to shop or waiting for group that I've built my skill. In south freeport especially just jump off the wall to the bottom of the main staircase in the middle of the map and run back up again... </DIV></DIV><p>Message Edited by Goonch on <span class=date_text>01-31-2005</span> <span class=time_text>07:01 AM</span>

The only problem with jumping off of every sheer surface you encounter while getting from point A to point B (which I do) is that it becomes a habit that is detrimental to your alts :smileytongue:

<DIV>Its so much fun when folks follow you though, and fun for them when you go a bit tooo far with it =D</DIV>

Well, it *has* gotten a rather lazy inquisitor in my guild to stop auto-following me all the time :smileytongue:

Playing around with safe fall, I've noticed a few things.1: You DO need to fall from longer distances to get successive skillups. If you see the message "but you land softly" then you are at a good distance for your skill level.2: Safefall is not all-or-nothing like it was in EQ1. In EQ1, based on your skill, there were 'asured safe falls' but anything past that you either passed your safefall check or took normal falling damage as if you had no skill. In EQ2 it appears that safefall removes distance fallen. When you are working just beyond your skill you will take falls for 80 or 100 that would land for 1k+ on a non scout.3: Group exp debt sucks for people that are autofollowing you4: Mobs have an safe fall skill of 250+, and don't mind using it.
<DIV>Wish they had implemented it earlier. Was running the jboots zek quest and didn't realzine the mine trolley was at the bottom and fell to my doom. What was funny I went to get my shard and took it down, absorbed shard, and a necro comes flying down to his doom lol. Defenitaly a lifesaving ability! Now that mineshaft is just practice although very slow. </DIV>
Griffin towers are nice safe places to start levelling this skill up on I have found got mine to 60 odd quite easily. Now I jump down the middle whole in the tradeskill instance and occaisionally get damage or get a skill up <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> (freeport TS instance that is <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />).Safe fall invariably rocks <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

After working on my safefall skill for about two hours tonight I've come to the conclusion that height does NOT matter as long as you either get the safe fall message or take damage from the fall. I jumped from damaging heights and I jumped from safe fall heights. The only difference I noticed was that it was faster to jump from safe fall heights because it involved less climbing time.

Hence, fall distance does matter.

I think that's pretty obvious. You can't jump off of a bench and increase safe fall. The point of this thread was to determine if greater fall distances earn greater gains in skill. In this context it doesn't matter.</FONT></DIV> <DIV></FONT> </DIV> <DIV></FONT> </DIV></DIV>

You are correct, sir. After 100, however, you will start to see the difference. At 122/165 safe fall, the skillups come few and far between. I can't even count on the drop from the top of the TS instance to the bottom to get me a skillup chance any more.

I think the fall only needs to be "high enough" to either increase skills or cause damage or both. I spent an hour on the griffen towers also with sove very high satiation food and got to 111.

<DIV>I just wish there was some extremely convenient way to raise it like there was in EQ1. I spent like lvl 18-30 in Unrest and there was nothing better for safefall than running to Unrest all the time.</DIV>

<DIV>well now all those got plenty of time to increase safe fall who are wanting to wait for ruse to come back again in its full glory</DIV>
