View Full Version : Serious question about future direction of Brigands (and maybe Swashbucklers)

<DIV>There is a lot of discussion about Rogues vs Predators, particularly in the DPS department. There is even a tongue-in-cheek topic on this forum about Assassin vs Brigand DPS (quite an interesting post actually). My question is simple:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If, as it appears to be, that Brigands are equalling (and perhaps even exceeding, including Ruse) Assassin DPS...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>and Brigands have more group utility (Smuggle and such)...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Does that mean that Assassins will be getting a damage boost in the future, or will Brigands be getting a a decrease?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I ask because I want to play a pure DPS melee class and don't have time to replay another class if, a year from now and multiple patches later, the class dynamics are changed. It would appear, based on class descriptions, that Assassins/Rangers should do more damage but I think the additional damage they do is neglible if present at all?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Not trying to start a nerf or flame war discussion, just wanting to plan my future direction as a current 9 Scout. Thanks for any advice! :smileyhappy:</DIV>

<DIV>Well, all class DPS is going to change. Everything is all wrong.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Probably has to do with [Removed for Content]'d (I always use that word now) skills.</DIV>

<DIV>The way it stands now if you want a pure DPS melee class go bruiser. As for me brigands <8. </DIV>

<DIV>pure dps melee= bruiser, monk, maybe zerker too</DIV> <DIV>they got great dmg and don't have to bother with positioning themselves exactly to the rear of the mob (which isn't that easy when fighting little flying things and some others)</DIV>

<DIV>I don't see why this would be a problem.  What is wrong with Rogue outdamaging Predators in the long run? They trade some overall DPS for alpha strike ability, bards trade theirs for utility.  As I've alwawys seen it, it is our role to do be the most damaging scout.  If not that then what is our role?</DIV>

<DIV>I fail to see the validity of this post, talking about buffing rangers or nerfing rogues at this point is rather pointless... ...go over to the assasin forums and they will assure you they are DPS kings, but even that is besides the point...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have been using the Combat Stats parser that has been updated to follow ruse, and durning fights I have to work very steadily to keep up with monks/bruisers (berserkers)... now they are fighting from the front, and not only that they were tanking in these fights, against group ^^ mobs a few lvls higher then them, and doing it very well I might add.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If you want to talk about group utility, surely filling the roll of both DPS and MT is much more then our uhhh... well.... smuggle, people talk about our "utility" like that and I feel like /clobbering them, we get smuggle, which I have used, up to lvl 24 in one instance, which was doing AQs in FG, and thats it, almost never again, sure comes in handy when almost any mob you would use it against can see through it  =).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Besides that, what, evac? We are not the only scout class to get that you know.</DIV>

Our Strength comes from the following:1) Our DPS is consistant.2) Our Debuff Utilities do make a difference.3) Burgle helped the groups I have been in more than once.
