Not complaining, just a question? In one thread on the boards, people are saying that if not using powers, then two weapons have a better dps than just one. But when you are using powers a single weapon works best.In another thread it is stated that proc's from poison are not damage/delay related. So why use two weapons?Ref:http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=31&message.id=3014<p>Message Edited by ee2a-bk9h-vdk3-g677-m8kf on <span class=date_text>01-19-2005</span> <span class=time_text>03:32 AM</span>

Since most of my dps comes from specials.....I use DW in groups when I don't have to worry about tanking, and take the little bit of extra DPS. If I am soloing, I get out the 1-hander and a shield for the extra defense.

I currently use a 2.4 speed spear and my bone razor. When I reach 50 I plan to do some parsing and compare combinations of 2 slow spears, slow/fast weapon, 2 fast weapons to figure out which is best under various circumstances. (I can't believe I'm actually going to parse, never have had the inclination to before. <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> )I suspect the 2 spears is best but it's a little hard to tell exactly how their speed is affecting overall dps. I get much higher regular hits with them that it's difficult for me to see how fast weapons could catch up-particularly when swing delay most likely has a cap anyway.

<DIV>DW also has an inherant 25% dmg bonus over single hand even when not firing skills so technically it is mathematically impossible for a one handed weapon to have higher DPS than a proper DW combo of equal level</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I ran some tests around 25 using DW, then equal lvl sword and board. I actually soloed more efficient without the shield. Faster killing + high AGI >>> shield bonus from what my tests showed me. Sadly I lost the logs when I did my winter comp clean.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>But hey on a plus note, at least shields in EQ2 actually block instead of just giving more ac hehe</DIV>

I always use DW - even when I solo. Added stats from both weapons is nice, and it increases the chance of poisons hitting your mobs.

<DIV>Yeah but you can get added stats from a shield. The poison is a better point.</DIV>
<DIV>Shields give Wis and Int while dual weild weapons give Str and Agi. Also one handed weapons give a bit of each stat.</DIV> <DIV>Massive +Agi and +Str is most beneficial for brigands in my opinion.</DIV> <DIV>Bards on the other hand have Int as a secondary stat can afford sacrificing the STR and AGI if the INT gain is worthwhile.</DIV>
In point of fact, the proc rate of poisons over time is constant, regardless of the weapon(s) or shield you are wielding. Dual Wielding or 1H + Shield have the same poison proc rate over time.Unless you can point me to a parse that contradicts my own findings. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> In which case, I will gladly sit corrected.

<DIV>DW all the way. I have never seen one of us in group using a sheild and quite frankly, if you use one in a group, you're not performing to potential. Use a shield if you want when you solo, feel free. In group, you are not the main tanka nd have no use for a shield. In between specials, you are swinging duel. Just retraining a skill with a weapon I had no exp with in one hand I noticed a large drop off in DPS. I will parse with one hand and with two if I get a chance and see what kind of difference over a long fight does. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>BTW, you'd have a hard time convincing me that swinging 2 weapons procs the same amount of times with poison as swinging with one. 2 chances to hit compared to one it would seem to me. So, if you point me to a parse that contradicts that, I'll gladly sit corrected. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV><p>Message Edited by Kegofbud on <span class=date_text>01-20-2005</span> <span class=time_text>09:03 AM</span>

I can provide the raw logs if you want, just PM me here, Kegofbud.

<DIV>Well, if those stats hold true, I hope there was more testing then just 1 of each. At any rate, I can see using a shield in solo fights, when you are taking all the hits. I guess on to my next question, why is your AGI so low? I saw the 77agi and I had to reread it. Has nothing to do with the topic but....</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>* Adding, I guess it's possible that it only procs on your main weapon according to that thread. I'd like to see an official explanation of how it procs if not on both weapons.</DIV><p>Message Edited by Kegofbud on <span class=date_text>01-25-2005</span> <span class=time_text>08:25 AM</span>

Those tests were all done buffless. I was wearing crafted-only armor and using crafted-only weapons. Such is life. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> I prefer a more balanced character, rather than one with 200 agility, and 20 stamina, for example. I also did not take agility for my two stat boost options, as there is the occasion where hit points matter, and ATK matters (STA and STR) In any case, with rough skin, i have 100+ agility, and i don't routinely run out of power while grouping or solo'ing, so I call it "enough" and focus on other things like resists and AC.Poison procs occur on either hand swing. While dual wielding, I use a piercer and a slasher. The poison procs on <b>either</b> hit. It's almost 50/50 actually, as to which hand-hit it procs from.Regarding the number of tests. I burned two complete poisons to do those tests. Two sets of 100 procs each. To date, I have seen no other publicly posted proc rate tests, so I figured 200 procs was sufficient. It also consumes 36 minutes per test, and as much as I'm a parsing zealot, I do have my limits. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

Player crafted armor does seem to lack a bit from the dropped in that department though. I guess that explains it. I like to think my character is balanced fairly well too. I don't care about stats for INT and WIS but the rest of mine are plenty high.</DIV>
I was trying to taunt you into doing the tests as well, for comparison. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />I guess I need Cuss Adept3. heheheh.

<DIV>Heh, I wish I could bring myself to stop doing the things I like doing in game to do that many tests. Since I can't, that's why I asked you to give your results. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV>Glad I've seen them and as I had originally said, I gladly sit corrected. </DIV>
