View Full Version : Would you be so kind as to help a new Rogue intending to go Brigand??
Hello all,I just created my first evil character. Would someone please give me a little primer on Freeport. I would like to gain some direction on what I should be doing. Also, has anyone figured out a way to transfer stuff from your evil character to your good character or vice versa? Here are the Freeport questions I would like some help with:1. What are the best quests that a new scout - rogue should not miss doing in Freeport?2. At what level should I go to Commonlands?3. Are there any things that I should not miss doing in my early teens?4. What skill is the class defining skill for a brigand? How does this skill make them different from Swashbucklers? Thanks for you help!!

<DIV>Haha! Look at our board. The first page still has messages from a week ago. It's not like we have to do any bumping here. Go troll somewhere else.</DIV>

I usually open my alt+w window, and I went to each location in every city area to look for npcs. I found this was a nice way to get quests.2. I would move to the Commonlands when you are at least level 10. There is no reason to go there before you reach level 10. There are a lot quests you can complete prior to 10 that will equip you or make you some decent coin.3. We are scouts, so explore all you can. Try to get Fallen Gate ( Freeport side ) access in your mid teens. Eventhough, only one person in your group needs access, it would be nice for you to have the ability to zone into FG without a group. Wailing Caves ( Freeport side ) have some decent quests - one of which a nice weapon that you will be able to use until your early 20s ( at least I did until I upgraded )4. Brigands get debuffs/stuns/knockdowns. Our debuffs usually reduce a mobs AGI or Defense. In terms of DPS, I think Brigands have a slight advantage over our counterpart in Qeynos. Brigands have an awesome Combat Art called Ruse which is a frontal attack that does high damage to a mob. Both classes get to use poisons which can be a nice boost to your DPS depending on what mobs con to you. Both classes also have positional attacks in which one needs to be flanking or behind the target. Brigands can snare mobs, single or linked. ( I do not know if Swashies have this ability ) In the end, your best bet is to read the Swashie board to see all their features.Eventhough we can solo, to a certain extent, our class really shines when we are in groups. In the end, it depends on what you like most - evil or good. <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<DIV>I would recommend the Badlands Stiletto Quest in the commonlands too... goto the Nomad camp by the Nek Tower (Griffon) and hail the named NPC in the tent (forget the name) he will give you a quest which end up in the wailing caves... pretty decent piercing weapon that will take you into the late teens. There are several other nice quests but this one stick in my miond as being the easest and most rewarding.</DIV>

<DIV>You can actually get 2 of these daggers. After finishing your quest and receiving your first dagger, go back to WC and talk to the woman in the jail. She will then send you back to the guy at the nomads camp and you will get a 2nd dagger.</DIV>

Yep. 2 badlands stilettos rule all as an evil rogue (unless you get lucky with the harvesting and can get pristine forged BI piercers made), but the second is a pain in the bum (gotta camp a named with a long respawn before you go back to the nomad camp). Probably easier and relatively cheap to pick the second one up on the broker. Also, the diryt rats quest in the commonlands yields a very nice bow for the one ranged move we get as a rogue, and even if you don't use the bow it will be the best stats you can put in that slot for a while.Since it has been a while since I was a rogue, I can't say much about the armor, as I had crap until I did my armor quest. If you group all the time this is not an issue, but it will severely hamper your solo ability. This last bit goes for everyone, but especially for brigs as we (or at least I) tend to be power hogs, but spend the money and use player-made food appropriate to your level. Your group will thank you for it, and when you get to lvl 20 you can set a good example and clobber anyone who isn't full power when you are :p
