<DIV>Hi all! I am just starting a scout to become a Brigand because the concept sounds cool. Now, mind you, I like grouping so I have no problem with that. But on occasion when I just have a little time to play, are Brigands able to solo at all? The reason I ask is because I read about how scouts are great in groups but poor at solo. Would I be able to solo green group mobs or only solo mobs? or not even that? Any advice/opinions/help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>P.S. I find the Brigand boards to be the most newbie friendly as well, great job!</DIV>

<DIV>It partially depends on which level range you're in, as well as how good you are with the game controls.  If you can land our ghetto stuns, turn attack off, and backstab / flank attack consistently, you can take solo-mobs pretty far above your level np.  Ruse helps quite a bit as well, as do poisons.  A well played brigand can easily keep up with a DPS mage class while grinding through solo mobs.  Group mobs 20+ are pretty much out though - they just hit too hard.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>And while you probably already know this, let me just say that soloing is pretty much a waste of time as far as earning XP goes by the time you're actually a brigand.  I solo occasionaly while LFG, to grind writs, or maybe to finish a quest, but that's about it.</DIV>

But solo mobs are easy up to yellow"</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Scouts can solo group mobs. I solod Ogarahn 30 or 40 times from 16 to 19. Stop meleing, use your strength, use your bow and run in circles. Is it boreing? some think so. But nothing boreing about loot and I had tons by the time I was lvl 20. I have solod both named giants in Nektulos useing this method, and not once, over and over. I also regularly solod Kragnok for about 18 axes total.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Depends a lot on various factors. First scouts are able to solo mobs such as double up unlinked groups that NO other class could even think about soloing via snare/bow kite. In terms of standard blue to yellow solo mobs the answer is yes we can but as we have no heals our best deffense is a hard offense which of course we have. That being said having played many classes both solo and group I'd say soloing for levels is a vertual waste of time in this game. People often give the agrument that they don't group cause they only have 2 hours a day to play. Well 2 hours spent grouping is a much bigger gain of exp then 2 hours soloing. JMHO.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>PS, don't get caught up on expenssive arrows. Best I ever use on named mobs or any others is iron and on Ogarahn all I ever used was tin. And use and stack poisons.</DIV><p>Message Edited by Azrom on <span class=date_text>01-10-2005</span> <span class=time_text>08:04 AM</span>

<DIV>Disclaimer regarding my last post above:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If yu solo double up group mobs especially names, A: best if they don't cast unlike nightshade shaman. B: scout the area well before ever attemtpting so you know where to circle kite and more importantly, where not too. C: try to stick with mele names like paddlefoot or ogarahn or Kragnok. D: expect to die and a lot. Soloing names is not an efficient way to level. It is often not even an efficient way to make money but you can do quite well if you master it.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The DGH ( don't get hit) method of soloing is bar none your most powerful ally against mobs no other class would ever consider soloing. It takes a lot of practice. I fortunatly had the practice in EQ1 as a ranger with endless quiver and solod mobs deemed unsoloable. I have honed snare kiting into an artform.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If I did not have my passion for soloing names I would be at least lvl 45 right now but as it stands I am 35 now but have experienced levels of content up to my level I am confident many lvl 50 brigands have not or will not experience.</DIV>

<DIV>How were you able to solo Kregnok multiple times? I got the quest one time and he won't go past speakign one line to me now. This was a couple weeks ago now so was there somethign before that that allowed him to be fought multiple times?</DIV>

My favorite part of being a brigand is soloing group green ^^ mobs. The chest drop rate on group mobs is MUCH higher tha solo mobs, which lets you keep all the good loot and gives you more practice at disarm than most scouts get. This class can solo very well. I would never use the "run in circles and scream like a little girl" tactic, here are some suggestions tht are more practical:Use higher DOT poison like orange, green or purple, this fight is going to take about a minute. I use orange all the time, decent dot and still decent DD for short fights in groups.Use snoop to get the first attack on aggro mobs.Use rake to debuff agility, get hit less.Use ruse early, sometimes use it twice.Cheap shot/ distracting blade (flank attack) connects easier than backstab. The simple HO combo is still very effective.

<DIV>Kregnok is sometimes running around as attackable, have hit him many times too</DIV>

<DIV>Aye, apparently 90 percent or more of the people who do hand in do not come prepared to actually fight him. So what I used to do was check CL 1, 2 and 3 to see if the attackable version of him us roaming as is quite often he case.</DIV>

<DIV>Ahhh, I just realized. Yeah after you turned in the quest and he attacks you, if you run from him and break the encounter, he stayed attackable. I guess others did what I did. I ended up grabbing a couple people and goign back for him.  I haven't seen him attackable except the one time I broek encounter with him.  Interesting...</DIV>
