In~ego Montoya was a bit too honorable to be a brigand. A brigand defintely isn't going to tell you that you are about to die... he is just going to kill you

Black Pirate Roberts.... maybe. If you listen to the stories about him anyway, not as you see him in the movie as Wesley

Probably more Jayne Cobb than Malcom Reynolds.

Firefly was created by Joss Whedon (he also did Buffy and Angel) for Fox not SciFi. SciFi would (hopefully) have realized how great that show was and kept it on the air. But the good news is that Serenity should be out this April! Now if you'll excuse me, I'll be in my bunk.

*oops spelling!

Message Edited by Erolz on 12-16-2004 10:59 AM

whenever i here brigand i think of johnny depp. No not the pirate of the caribiean one, the once upon a time in mexico one. Ya ya he he was a gun slinger and not a stabber but you can't deny he has Ruse. The final kiss, AKA ruse was brillant. If you haven't saw it, you just have to watch it.

Praytor, Firefly was a SF TV series that ran in the US in the fall of 2002 on the FOX network. Created by the same guy who came up with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, it was a 'western' set in outer space, shortly after a civil war. It was about the lives of the crew of a cargo ship living on the edge of the law, both figuratively and literally.

Well characters are more about personality than situation so here goes.Any Erol Flynn character = swashbuckler (sneaks into a room jumps on the chandalier with that loud cocky HA HA! laugh, in other words....flashy and calling attention, also a very smooth operator with the members of the opposite sex)Han Solo = Brigand (sneaks into the death star [smuggle anyone?] Makes his way undetected through the entire base [with a wookie mind you!] and even tries to lie his way out of trouble when he finally gets caught [gets caught, not calling attention to himself purposely] and when everything goes to hell in a handbasket, still puts quite a whupping on the whole death star....oh and still a very smooth operator with the members of the opposite sex.)Brigands aren't flashy (although we have every right to be cocky) we are subtle and effective. A swashbuckler will run from a battle put a barrier between the guards and himself and taunt them as he gets away. A brigand will blow up the building and sneak out in the confusion.Think I've made my point.

I would have to agree that Han Solo WAS a brigand at one time. Then hot-to-trot Princess Leia turned him good and away from his brigand lifestyle. You must be evil to be a brigand The kid who terrorized Ralphie and every other kid on "A Christmas Story" seems like a brigand to me. He even had to lackeys helping him out.
