<DIV>I just finished my Brigand quest tonight at level 18.  I am embarressed to say that I died 5 times during this quest.  Three times I died because I thought the other chest was way on the other end of the zone past the 30 level 40 group x2^^ mobs (I almost [Removed for Content] my pants when I saw all these mobs).  And the other 2 times I died because the restless orc would run on top of the building with the 2nd chest in it, after i would run out of the building, he would come and kill me completely invisible and I could not hit him.  Through all of that, I had a blast trying to find the proper tactic to complete the quest at level 18.  I came out of the quest with 3 bubs of debt, but with a decent sword and a goal to hit 20 so I can truely call myself a Brigand.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Anyone else want to share their multiple death stories?  Or tell me how great you are for not dying during that quest  =)</DIV>

<DIV>I took a death myself, I also thought the chest was over the other side. I realised it wasn't, ran through the middle as it was the only way past and got 2 shot dead. That orc that is layin down is very buggy. I actually got lucky and he couldn't hit me instead of the other way around. The invis mobs are very annoying, there are heaps of them in the Elephant training grounds too.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I was very disappointed in the XP for this quest. I was expecting something like level 9 where you got most of a level, but instead only got 11% xp at level 18. Wasn't too happy with that <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV><p>Message Edited by Taithos on <span class=date_text>11-24-2004</span> <span class=time_text>07:09 AM</span>

<DIV>Alright, figured that one out, but died 3 times. The last time I died as I zoned out, so my shard was outside the sprawl gate. Woohoo!</DIV>

<DIV>lol I died 2 times. Once I said the wrong thing to the orc you have to talk to , he realy messed me up. And the 2nd i went in the house with the yellow thinking I had to kill him to get at the chest. So the last time I came in the zone I stayed out side the door of the house in sneak mode and clicked on my shard and on the chest. Not an easy quest for sure but much fun.</DIV>

<DIV>So yeah, I've died twice on this stupid quest. Where the hell do my shards go and where is the second chest?</DIV>

<DIV>And I died again. Someone make a guide.</DIV>

<DIV>I thought about making a guide, but that would spoil all of the fun.  It is the reason I even put spoiler tags on the post title just incase someone let too much information out.  :smileyvery-happy:</DIV>

<DIV>Not to sound like a jerk, but I'm amazed that people died on this quest.  <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If you've ever played Thief before, this should have been cake.  I don't see the need for a detailed spoiler as you get more than enough info from the quest text to complete this.  That said, here's what I did.</DIV></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I went in the larger building first and had to run upstairs twice to avoid the guards while clicking chests, but I had no other complications.  Then I went in the smaller building with the FD'd orc (was a yellow con, couldn't see me with snoop on) and got the 2nd chest.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Didn't have to walk near any red cons other than the guard, and running away from him was quite easy since it warned me like 20 sec ahead of time in the chat box.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Just be patient and careful, that's the best advice I can give.</DIV>

<DIV>I nearly wet my pants during this one. I first went into the bigger house and figured there had to be another chest somewhere... i spent a good 15 minutes trying to figure out how to get to the other big house (i had been up on the roof of the smaller house but didn't see the entrance on the most exposed side), at that point i pleaded for help from a fellow Brigand and i got the tip to use track to find my way. I managed to have all three "sneak" skill icons up but i guess not all of them was "active". I don't know which of the skills was active but it did the job and not even the yellow orc saw me; sneak (adept 1), snoop (apprentice 1) and Smuggler's talent (Adept 1).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>All in all, when the deed was done and i was standing outside the sprawl entrance i was shaking from the adrenaline rush. That's definitely a sign of good questbuilding.</DIV>

<DIV>Died twice on this one myself. Once to the restless orc (yellows aren't that much harder than whites, are they? *splat* Guess so.) and once to the guard. I had already gotten one chest and was on my way to the next when he appeared in the doorway not 5 feet away from me. I ran THROUGH the level 40s and escaped them to the other side of the zone. 15 minutes later, I realized there was no way to save myself... but at least I got my previous shard back, from running the wrong way. Needless to say, this was a frustrating quest. </DIV>

I'm only 18, should I wait for 19 to get smugglers advance? and get either an app II or III?Right now my sneak is app.III; snoop is App.II; smuggle is app.IIEven if I stack they see through the invis. And i cant find the second medallion. I only find 2 boxes but one has one and the other does not. After many trains and 2 deaths, I still do not see any more chests.can anyone assist on this?

I didn't read this until today but got good advice from a guildie to get the highest snoop I could afford, which I believe is app3 since no rogue adept 1 books seem to drop. Snoop at app3 makes this a totally different encounter. The FD restless orc never woke up and I headed back wondering what all the fuss was about.

<DIV>I didn't have any problems when I was lvl19.  I think I just used smuggler's talent and when the guard came, I just stopped.  He came in looked around and just walked away.  I thought I was in trouble, but I guess not moving must have done it.  Other then that one guard, it wasn't too bad at all.  I really expected it to be more difficult and longer.</DIV> <DIV>Hearing all the trouble others had, I guess I must have gotten really lucky.  Really, I'm kinda glad I didn't read anything like this before the quest, becuase I would have been a lot more worried about the guard then I was and would have probably gotten killed.</DIV>

<DIV>This story was about my experience, not a pity story.  If you read through it you will see that I said I enjoyed the quest, even after dying 5 times.  No where in my post do I say that the quest was too hard.  Two of my deaths were due to dying from a bugged mob.  I went through the quest all on my own, experimenting with every aspect that I could to complete the quest.  At the end of my post I ask for your experiences on the quest, not some assinine response to how I completed my quest.</DIV>

At the end of my post I ask for your experiences on the quest, not some assinine response to how I completed my quest.</DIV><hr></blockquote>Hi Dtrick.I shared a similar experience as you. In the first empty house with chests, I was clicking everything trying to trigger quest advancement. I noticed the text, "You hear an orc guard approaching" (or something to that effect), but didn't think much of it. By fluke, I happened to just walk up the ladder just as the guard came in! After I collected myself from being nearly spotted by the L40 guard, I kept trying to click on the chests again, but realized it wasn't going to be that easy -- I was going to have to find the last chest elsewhere. As I exited the first house, I noticed the ladder leading to the roof of the house next to it. It seemed fairly obvious that that was where I should go next. On top of the house, I couldn't see any other way inside except through the front door. So as I dropped down (in stealth mode), I noticed the Restless Orc inside -- but being at L18, the Restless Orc could see right through my App 1 Snoop. Of course, I panicked. I wasn't prepared for a fight (also, even though he was orange, I still had the memory of L40 orcs everywhere), so I made a run for it. I went all the way to the water, across the village, around the towers -- aggroing in the process dozens of L40 orcs -- but I finally broke aggro behind the towers. Now, being on the other side of this L40 orc barrier, I couldn't get back to the 2nd house easily. I probed and probed, and every time I got aggro, I had to run back around the towers to lose them. To make matters worse, these guys RAN BACK to their posts very quickly. Eventually, I managed to time it so that I would draw aggro on the right side of the orc chain, and managed to sprint and race back behind their line before they were back in position!OK. So I'm finally back near the starting point. I figure, ok, I'll use my higher level smuggle or sneak to get into the house. Tried that... of course it didn't work... restless orc sees me, and guess what happens next -- panick! -- and I ended up training everything again and had to run back out around the towers, and do the whole probe/race thing all over again! But the third attempt was the charm for me. This time, I figured, I'm just going to kill this restless orc. Maybe thats what being a real brigand was all about, right!? So this time, as I approach the house, the restless orc aggros me through the wall, and catches me unprepared! I wasn't going to win the fight, but at this point, I figured, what the hell -- I'm going to run in, try and click the chest, and see if it ends the quest.Well, I managed to do that -- and also ran back to the quest NPC (while the restless orc is beating me senseless), and managed to trigger the quest complete conversation, which auto-zoned me to safety. This all took me some time (30-45 mins in total). But it was great fun and a great challenge. Very easy to see how, if you had just the tiniest bit of lag, how those L40's would make quick work of anyone attempting this quest.

I didn't have snoop app3, and at 18 the restless orc was orange to me and started kicking my butt, so I ran out and managed to get far enough to break the encounter before running out of safe space. I rested up, then just ran in and got the 2nd chest with the restless orc smacking me, ran back to talk to the named orc again and (presto!) he took me back to Commonlands.I have to agree with most everyone else though, I certainly thought "yikes!" when I saw all those orcs. Overall I thought the restless orc should be a level lower and you should have to kill him (I don't feel totally satisfied since I essentially circumvented that challenge), but otherwise this was a pretty thrilling quest.
