<DIV>Swashbucklers are smelly pirate wannabes who are more than happy to spend months on end on a boat with a bunch of males. They're either female or... well, you catch my drift.</DIV>

<DIV>well im not really talking about any roleplaying sort of difference...im wanting to know what their differences are overall in abilities...does the swash sacrifice dmg for having its mez? is the piercing dot the brig has any good?</DIV>

<P>Swash gets mes, Brigand gets stuns.  The classes are very similar, and I'm sure their damage output is similar too.  If want want big hits play an assassin.</P><p>Message Edited by Cortechs on <span class=date_text>11-23-2004</span> <span class=time_text>12:37 PM</span>

<DIV>"If want want big hits play an assassin"</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I love assasins, I really do but I happen to play a brigand. I could max hit for 338 when I was lvl 22 on a 60 sec refresh hit (ruse). Think it is safe to say both rogues and predators have big hits. Not doubting assasins may have bigger hits though.</DIV><p>Message Edited by Azrom on <span class=date_text>12-17-2004</span> <span class=time_text>01:35 PM</span>

<DIV>When I think of a swashbuckler, I think of someone like Zorro or Puss in Boots in the latest Shrek movie.  A brigand would be more like a highwayman, someone who is a dirty player and would cheat to win.  I am having trouble thinking of an example....  the cloest I could come up with was the main character to the game Thief.  I think generally, brigands are never main characters in movies - so it is hard to think of an example.  They are generally members of roving bands of thieves.  I suppose pirates could be included as brigands.  (They fit the description, but they are just on the water instead.)</DIV>

<DIV>i think jack sparrow from pirates of the caribbean was more of a brigand than a swashbuckler.  he was no gentleman, thats for sure.  he cheated in the fight against orlando bloom.  just because he ran with the good  guys doesnt mean he was one.  in that movie orlando bloom was more of a swashbuckler because he was a gentleman, and he wasnt all scummy and dirty.</DIV>

<DIV>Brigs do the majority of fighting from a flank or rear possition. Swashys have a lot more frontal attacks and only a couple of rear based attacks.</DIV>

Yep, both offer utility to a group in the long run, and both have the majority of their attacks non-stealth based. But it seems Swashy's get more frontal attacks and Brigs get more flanking ones.

<DIV>That really sucks for Swashbucklers, because most of the mobs I fight always use their Barrage attack.  I usually get hit right off the jump standing next to the MA trying to get Ruse off.  Guess it pays not to be a Queeros hippie.</DIV>
