Auto Attack DPS vs. Auto Ranged DPS

<DIV>I about busted a gut I was laughing so hard yesterday. Someone suggested to me that all ranged auto attack damage is equal to your melee auto attack. I cannot fathom this, expecially on a Swashy, but I am one that likes to cover my bases and am humble enough to admit if I am wrong. So I came here to find out what my fellow Swashy's say. I just can't imagine how he could be right with all our melee bonuses like crits and double attack with the wisdom line.</DIV>

<DIV>This would have been true with a fabled thrown weapon back before double attack stopped affecting ranged attacks. Back when it did...really, ranged attack did do more than melee if your specials were down.</DIV>

In basic auto attack, no double attack and equal haste/dps it can be possible, I mean look at some of the fable bows and such out there now, heck with raincaller it can do over 1k a hit without our dps bursters. But with double attack yeah melee should be beating it as long as you have a decent weapon.
