Hail of Steel Usefulness??

<DIV>Does anyone use Hail of Steel regularly?  I've found very little use for it, but maybe I'm just not trying hard enough.  I've used it to pull at times as it seems to have a longer range than Artic Blast, but thats about it (2 quick clicks to pull mob, then un-root so can actually attack).  Even in ranged fights like Corsolander, I've found my dps to be comparable with auto attack and spamming AB then using HoS.  Even at ADIII, it just doesn't seem to work very well.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Any thoughts? I'm sure it's come up on the board before, but I couldn't find it.</DIV>

Honestly I haven't used it since it was changed to thrown weapons rather than bow.

The only time I use this is on joust of big Crab and Corsolander. It does last a looooong time, makes me feel I'm really losing alot of DPS when I do use it.<div></div>

it doesnt have a use.  it is one of worst abilities.  especially if you have reach line and a decent thrower.<div></div>

/Agree all. Like the OP, i do use it to pull, when other ranged attack is down, or if i'm tanking for group i'll use to pull at a greater distance.

and i think what coel was trying to say... <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> was that when you go down the Reach AA line... your AB has a longer distance then HoS... so yes i dont use it either.. infact its not on any of my hotbars anymore /shrug<div></div>

<P>I have at Master 1</P> <P>The only time i use it is if i have forgotten to get tier 7 ammo (and just have junk tier 1/2 stuff) and need *to range/joust* an epic on a raid. You will do more damage than using tin daggers!!! So it does have one use........</P>

I always use it for ranged fights..but only because I'm too cheap to buy real ammo and I like the +pierce mod on my bixie pouch.<div></div>

 I use it sometimes when there are super laggy raid on raid fights and cant seem to get any combat arts off..lol. Ill just use HoS and pick random targets from far.<div></div>

Now with so many nice range weapons in game, just basic range auto attack does a lot more damage than HoS I'm seeing. Definently not a worthwhile spell to have, only reason I have it is because its good for pulling mobs that are on cliffs and just out of basic range. If you cant find a decent range weapon to beat HoS, do raincaller, with our haste, plus our dps/haste burst and our dps burst from bloodline our auto attack damage with range goes through the roof. Nothing like seeing weaponstats showing a range weapon hitting for like 600+ to 1000+ damage range.

I haven't tested exactly what the range is now but now that I thought about it, HoS must have an amazing distance now with the Reach AA line.

ahh...the combine war satchel.  I think my guild saw one of those like 3 months ago and hasn't seen one since.  I'm still stuck with a legendary satchel. :/
