I am really wanting to roll a Swash due to the questing and solo abilities but am wondering if they are to much the trend right now. I couldnt see going a brigand just because I cant see myself being a "thug". As a swash what are your opinions on getting to be a FOTM if that is indeed the case.

Yeah, I've seen a lot of swashies too. Swashies and Conjurers. I want to make a Conj or Wizard but there's so many of them and I can't decide. D:

Yeah, there are way too many swashbucklers right now, wizards are a close runner up.

If you're going to roll a swashbuckler, please, practice and put effort into your character. I can't tell you how tired I am of the fact my server has about 500 level 70 swashbucklers, and 495 of them don't have a [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn]ing clue what they're doing.

Im pretty sure since Fae is the trend atm that as soon that SoE is gonna allow Fae betrayal peoples would switch...In Befallen idk more than 15 good lvl 70 Swashes so most people end up either giving up or making another toon imo....

My Swash still too low and I still got a few awesome spell to learn but its a blast.....Lots of change from a former 70 Illusionist

Ye be correct, matey! (because of people like me) I'm sorry I got bored with my paladin, but being a Swash is just so much more fun. You can tell what the latest "rave class" is because their Adept I books are up from 10g to about 30-50g and only 1-2 for sale at any given time.

Swash is a very popular alt class. It seems like half the people in my guild have a swashbuckler alt. My guess is because of the versitility. They can solo and fit in almost any group that has a healer (and a capable tank for the tougher zones). Like Leithe said, I think I have grouped or raided with maybe 5 or 6 swashbucklers that knew the class really well (I'm sure there are more that I haven't had the pleasure to meet). In most groups I taunt adds before the tank to save the healer, I mez wanderers before they add, quick on dropping avoid censure and offensive stance if the tank goes down, etc... If you do the little things like that, people will notice and invite you back no matter how many 70 swashbucklers are LFG.

Message Edited by SmCaudata on 01-19-2007 06:48 PM

My guess for the reason of a surplus of swashies is simply that swashies are the only rogues that can start on the "good" side, and people wanting to repeat the quests they already know from the other "good" chars they have, or wanting to play with their other "good" friends. Sure, there's betrayal, but that takes time and keeps you from breezing up to 70 in a few weeks.Personally, I don't see a problem with playing a "surplus" class, other than having a hard time finding drop items for it. You'll have a hard time finding affordable Master books, that's for sure. On the other hand, you might have a chance to grab a few cheap player made books, simply 'cause the crafters know that those books do sell, so I guess it evens out in the end.As for group ability, as a DD you're competing against all the other rogues and most damage casters anyway, so whether you play a Swashy or Assassin doesn't really matter. What matters is how you play. I'll take someone I know over someone I don't any time (provided he didn't stick in my memory for being just plain stupid). So your ability to find a group at 70 mostly depends on your group friendlyness on the way there. I do forgive easily if someone fu..s up at lv 30. I do not at lv 70.

I've noticed a fair amount of new swashies but at the high end things seem about the same , well more folks starting to stack up at lvl 70 with the lvl cap not going up.I assumed more swashies was in part becuase of EoF and only good/neutral classes for the fae. That said swashies seem to be pretty fleshed out now and fun.D

Really the only reason there are more swashes than Brigands is because of the Fay. Once there is a Freeport only new race the numbers will start to equalize.
