After buying a haste cloak (spending roughly 1p 50g) and finding out that it doesn't stack with the FBSS i became a little angry.

I know now that these two items don't stack, albeit this knowledge costed me a lot.

I am a little frustrated because I try to spend a lot of my gaming time reading (this forum basically) and learning to play better, but apparently I am very far from a good understanding of the game rules.

Anyway, to be able not to make the same mistake twice, how can I know if two items stack or not?

This apply also to adornments: what adornments can go on what item?

Is there any well defined rule?

Please help me because I am not a rich raiding player, hey, I'm not even 70 yet and since I have a family and a life to attend my gaming time is limited.

Thanks to everyone.

no two haste effects on items stack, however haste adornments do (with the exception of the 2h haste adornment).

General rule 1: (Adornments may or may not follow): If two items have an effect with the same name (for example, haste) they will not stack.General rule 2: You may have, for any given effect 1 each of the following: 1 self buff from each spell line; 1 proc item buff; 1 constant effect item buff, 1 buff from each line of another class. Adornments do not seem to follow this rule.

So you mean that if I have say a sword and a pair of leggings which both give haste, only the higher of the 2 will work?
If conversely one item recite "haste" and the other "attack speed" they would stack?
And what adornments will work on the various items?
I wouldn't like to find that, to say, two dps items don't stack by buying and attuning them.
Is there some place where I can find all the working combinations of items clearly described?
I am not rich and cannot go by trial and error.

Thanks.

Message Edited by khurath on 01-08-2007 01:08 PM

khurath wrote:
So you mean that if I have say a sword and a pair of leggings which both give haste, only the higher of the 2 will work?

Correct

If conversely one item recite "haste" and the other "attack speed" they would stack?

I've never seen an attack speed buf on an item that was not called haste as the effect name. In any case, you only get one haste boost from an item slot that is always on, and one that is a proc.
As an example, the Cloak of flames has 25% haste, and the DT access wrist item has 26% haste if I remember right. Since these are both constant effect type items, only one will apply. However, eithe one will stack with a proc from an agility ring, which gives a temporary attack speed boost (been a while since i've used one, I think that's the haste proc). Two agility ring procs will not stack with each other because they have the same effect name.

And what adornments will work on the various items?

This is usually detailed on the adornment items delve. I don't know of a comprehensive list, though i'm sure one exists somewhere. I believe all adornments stack, but My transmuter isnt' high enough to find out.

I wouldn't like to find that, to say, two dps items don't stack by buying and attuning them.

The same rules apply to dps as it does to haste, though dps items are in general much harder to find.

Is there some place where I can find all the working combinations of items clearly described?

The easiest thing to go by is only 1 item can natively have a haste/dps benifit, and only one item can have a haste/dps proc on it natively (that is, not as an adornment). The highest value should apply in all cases if you have two ce or two proc items.
