I am rolling a Swashbuckler and plan to focus on AA activities as I level, primarily solo.

I will have all mastercrafted armor, jewelery, and weapons plus Adept 3's of the main spells.

*** My main question is can this class kill most lower to middle level ^^^ nameds while they are still green? ***

If so, where should I put my first 20-30 AA's to increase my ability to do so? Finally, along this AA line of question, is the amount of points you have to put into INT to get Feign Death a bad idea?

Swashbucklers are one of the few classes I have not played. I am not looking to farm anything, I just want to kill each named along my journey for the AA's. My impression is without several stuns like a brigand or healing capabilities or a pet it will be tough. I am hoping the DPS of a Swashbuckler along with my gear, spell quality, and level difference will make this possible without a huge amount of risk.

Thanks for any thoughts in advance.

I've never been able to but....

I'm not especially active when I play. I don't leap and jump around, I pretty much just attack and mash buttons. If you can strafe and manage to stun and get in a back shot.... maybe

I did not have a main to finance my gear so I bought middle of the road gear as I levelled and saved my plat for better gear at 60+. If you are able to finance the best gear and get Masters for everything....maybe

But I've had no problems getting AA exp either. At level 57 I have 44 AA pts and I didn't even start earning them until I bought the expansion at around level 40. So in 17 levels I've gotten 44 AA pts. I get a lot of discovery exp because invis and evac allows me to explore zones easily.

Yes. The biggest thing to remember when soloing heroics is that you NEEEEED Lung Puncture to land, and you need to be in defensive stance.

To the above poster...yes, you also need to be able to get off backshots and be fairly active. If you have reach, as I do, melee kiting is also efficient.

If the mob sees through Stealth, use your Disarming *** spell to mez it; that way you can get behind it, Stealth, & use your backstabs. You'll pretty much need to get the best gear, Combat Arts, & poisons that you can, before you try it, so IMHO it's not worth a whole lot unless you get an Exquisite chest, or maybe even an Ornate; anything less, IMHO, is a waste of time.

& like Leithe said: use your Defensive Stance, not your Offensive Stance.

It is doable. Perhaps not when you are low level but It gets easier as you level and get more AA points. I would suggest however that you do not place points in INT. Use evac for those situations when you are about to loose and focus on your defense instead. Personally I am specced str 4/4/8 agi 4/1(for walk the plank) and sta 4/4/4/8/8. This will give you a ton of + defense along with a great mitigation buff and extra hp from the sta line. This along with a shield and vitality breach poison you become a solo machine.
Message Edited by liscio on 01-06-2007 09:13 PM

If you plan on killing ^^^'s and named then remember to always keep vitality breachs on you, I personally always fight in offence but thats just my prefernce, the faster it dies the better imo. I wouldnt suggest using defence stance on caster mobs, The interupt from offence is just too good.

I've done up to lvl 63^^^ at lvl 70. Lvl 65^^^'s usually kick my backside. It can be tough, though I can't say that I've ever felt I NEEDED to get Lung Puncture to land. I usually pop En Garde and Inspiration and if I think it's going to be really tough then I use Perfect Finesse and Ruthless Cunning for that extra dps goodness. Walk the Plank is very good for mobs that see through stealth as well. Double Cross for the lowered defense. And as a previous poster mentioned, Vitality Breach is very useful - though its doable without if you don't mind ending the fight with only a sliver a health left. At high levels you can pick up the weapon called Dark Linger - it procs a disease damage on the mob and it heals you.

Oh, yeah ... don't forget the defensive stance (I felt this could bear repeating hehe).

Nialla~

I can normally kill most 65^^^ named that I come across. I buff with finesse, en guarde, and cunning then pull with ranged usually or prox pull depending on what other mobs are nearby. After the initial dazzeling steel shot to reduce damage I hit inspiration and watch the hp go down. I use cheap shot and the guile to reduce mit even more. Also always use vitality breach poisons cause the heal is so nice. With all green heroics i use defensive stance cause with en guarde parries = more damage(with inspiration up even more ).

Aight. lets just say this. at 70, with 597 solo str, 450 agi, and 7050 hp, I can solo Nest in an hour and kill everyone but last guy (Got him to Orange...u and and an illus/healer can easily duo it). Kettleleader is upwards of a 3-4 min fight with kiting as soon as u hit 20% power. I HAVE to use vitality, enfeebling and turgers all grandmaster to do this at anywhere of a reasonable rate. Would prolly take 3-4 hrs otherwise, lol. Prolly helps my attk rating is still 1250 in defensive and I use vyemms sword which procs a ward and has an adorn to heal me.

I have bout 14-15 masters 57+, EoF PvP gear for shoulders (30 haste), hands (42 agi with my adorn on, but no str), bracers (proc 3 sec stun), and boots (add 45 damage to every ca. I LOVE THE BOOTS). then nemsis legs, relic hat, Crappy fugly KoS pvp bp (worse than relic) and most fabled kos jewerly (some raid, some legendary and spirit touched bangle....insane treasured) but my jewerly is for 100% str unless I needa put on resist stuff.

Anyways, I know u said low levels but thats how it is in the upper teirs

I'm 41 now and as I was leveling up I was able to kill most of the named in Stormhold that were about 8 levels below me. So at level 28 I was able to start killing the level 20^^^named mobs. It was tough. Sometimes I would win and sometimes I lose but when there was a gap of 9 levels between the mob and I it was much easier. I did not have mastercrafted gear or adept 3's. So if you will it should be no problem as long as you use all your skills properly.

Duvall

Try using stupfying poison at level 62+. Turgur's reduces the mobs attack speed but stupfying does a brief stun.

Absolutely it's doable with good tactics, gear/weapons, poisons and adept IIIs (masters wouldn't hurt :smileytongue: ). Though, as was mentioned, not sure how doable it is at lower levels.

For AA, personally I went down the strength and intelligence AA lines - I LOVE feign death. It's kept me from dying countless times, but it also has tactical uses (training mobs, getting thru difficult areas, etc). I've taken on tough multi-mobs by whittling them down 1 or 2 at a time, run off and feign death, then come back and kill the remaining.

You'll like being a swashy. If nothing else, you'll get very spoiled having sneak and evac :smileytongue:

You can. You need the right AA build and some decent gear and your key combat arts ADIII'ed or Mastered (preferably all of course). Some of it depends on the named also -- obviously some are harder than others. Don't expect to be doing it with App IVs and treasued gear though. Good luck.

But with only 3 back attacks, its easy to get em all of since we have 3 stuns. Turgers and hurricane is godly. Id much rather use turgers than studfying.
