I was reading through the posts because I am thinking about rolling a swashie. Im new to the game and trying out differnt classes to see what suits me. I noticed that in one thread that someone said (And this might not be an exact quote) "I can use 1 weapon and no offhand and still do massive DPS". Is this common? Is there a reason to only use a main hand weapon and no offhand? Honestly, I kinf of like the idea. It seems like all games are either dual wield or a 2 hander for a melee character. I like the idea of a single 1 hander.

What you're reading about is the Rogue Wisdom Achievement line. All of the powers on it up the abilities of the Swashbuckler when they wield one weapon with the off hand empty. It makes up for the lack of a second weapon through double attacks and other things. Fully investing in the line can let you do more damage than a dual wielder, but it takes alot of points and a really good one handed weapon. Its definately alot of fun. I took it pure for the 'one handed fencer' roleplay value and was completely surprised that it became popular as it did for 'practical' reasons as well.

I took it because it seemed the most pirate-ish to me. Loved the style. It just so happened str/wis spec was the best, high-end.

Yep same here, I picked it soley for the RP value of the "fencer" I didn't care if it was awesome, or just mediocre. Turns out it's actually really good. Whenever it first came out, Defensive stance + Wis line + Vitality breach poisons = invincible. I'm glad it got turned down though. I like picking stuff that not many other people choose to use.
