I would like to extend a warm welcome to all you Swashbuckler's! I have returned after some time away from online games. So here I am, finishing my patching so that I can get in and play again. However, Im not so sure I want to continue my current characters. Pally is my main (at level 3, followed by a monk and conjy (both level 20 and 21 respectively). Heres what Im looking for:

1. Soloability - Ive delved into the posts but still am undecided, are they good at solo? (I have to solo/grp I would say 50/50 at least)

2. Fun Class - Something not so overly complex its mind boggling but still challenging at the same time.

3. Group oriented - Since I do plan on actually doing a little grouping this go round. =)

Thats the main points I can think of at the moment. I am pretty much a casual player. I work and have kids so playing will be on days off and on nights, specially after the rug rats are asleep. Thanks for any help in advance!

Welcome aboard matey! :smileywink:

1. Swashbucklers can solo well but then so can a lot of classes. I don't think swashbucklers are the best soloers there are, I see illusionists, coercers, and wizards soloing tougher mobs under the right conditions, but we do well. My swashbuckler can solo better than my paladin (both level 70 but swashie is better equipped) and it's a lot easier to get a group as a swashie.

2. I've found playing a swashbuckler to be lots of fun. LOTS OF FUN. If I had kept playing my paladin as my main I think I would have quit the game out of boredom long ago. I think there are tougher classes to play. Just remember to keep moving and not stand still and swing away. Swashies have stuns and a mez, remember to use them.

3. Swashies are good in a group and good solo. We can tank if needed or dps. We make other classes better by aggro transfer and debuffing.

4. I'm supposed to tell you swashies suck and go roll a ranger.

Swashies and brigands (if you want to go for an evil toon) seem to be well rounded classes for solo play and group play as well as raiding if you join a guild that raids. Now days getting to level 20 is very easy and does not take long to do so my suggestion would be to try it out and if you don't like the class delete the toon and try another class. Sure you may have wasted a few hours time but you won't know if you like a class until you invest a little bit of time into it.

Thanks for the info! I dont expect to be uber by any means. Just want to have fun playing but not level so slow that (like you said with the pally) get bored to death. Swashbuckler sounds fun and they seem to look good doing what they do! :smileyhappy: I think Ill take your advice and roll one up and see what happens. Should be interesting to say the least.
