View Full Version : New Swashy looking for info
Hello,I started a Fae Swashbuckler last night to try out the new expansion. I had a blast with this class. It seems very solo friendly and the mechanics for taking down mobs is fun and not boring to me. I got him to level 10 before I hit the sack. I have a few questions that I didnt easily find an answer to.What are the primary stats for the Swashbuckler? I assume Agi is one of them and I have been focusing on Agi special skills when I get them(The Green Cross Thingy that pops up).Are there soft caps for stats where I should start focusing on another stat when I get to a certain # on say Agi?What types of weapons should I focus on?Any other newbie tips are appreciated. =)

The main stat you will want to focus on is strength, wich determines damage on autoattacks and CA's, and with EoF we also gain some power from it. The tutorials are all nice and dandy in this game, but I wish they would add in basic info on the stats in them, as anyone rolling a scout is likely to assume agi to be the important stat whilst the only thing it really does is add power and a miniscule amount to avoidance. As for caps, I havent done the math for lower levels, but the new cap with diminishing returns sits at over 1k, whilst the old hard cap was just above 400 for a level 70, so I doubt even at lower levels it would be an issue with capping out.

As for weapons, it will depend much on wich path you later decide to take on the KoS AA tree, untill then any dual wields with good stats is fair enough, ye prolly will want to have some of different type to switch with tho to keep slash/pierce skills up.

Hmm.. I just woke up a bit ago, so still a bit sleepy but cant think of much more atm, Im sure other swashies can chime in and add what I missed

I did the same thing (created a new fae swashy).

I've taken a ranger up to T4 before, so I have some experience as a scout.

It's been a while though...

I think the most trouble I'm having is the movement, or maybe the wings... I hit a mob with the stun, zip behind and hit it with the flank attack (keep in mind, I'm only level 6 still). I seem to recall that with my ranger I had time to stealth, use the stealth attack and then the flank attack while the mob was still stunned. I know one of the ranger's attacks dropped him into stealth - maybe that's what I'm trying to do - without that CA...

I haven't played said ranger since LU19 though...

Regardless - I'm enjoying the learning experience, and I love GFay so far. I'll be back with more questions as they pop up.

Guess I'll have to start paying more attention to my guild's jewelers...

My view is slightly differentSTRINTthe rest will take care of themselvesthese are the only 2 stats that directly effect your damage

I would say most important stat depends on how you wish to play your swash, I have 2 different gear load outs depending on what I am doing, I am in a small/family guild where I'm about 5 levels higher than anyone else so I frequently tank, during these times my gear tends to lean towards the AGI for avoidance/power and WIS for resistance and STR for harder hits to hold agro better. I do occasionally raid w/ our sister guild and for that I load out on STR and INT for DPS and WIS for resistance, I use the Mental Breach line of poisons to keep from having power issues, whichever Debuff poison other scouts don't and a Turgur to lower mobs attack speedSwashy's are a very versitile class, we are jack-of-all master of none class, we can DPS, we can tank, we can debuff, Someone does each of them better, but no one does all of them better.
